Very excited!

Tomorrow the decisions will come. I hope I get in because I’m already having a bad time with 3 rejections and 3 waitlists.

My stats: 1840 SAT (didn’t send) 800 (chem) 740 (math 2) 710 (phy) and 107/120 TOEFL. I’m an international with a very high financial need, so I’m not so optimistic. Some national and state level achievements, lots of school achievements and several leadership positions.

Essays: My common app essay was done in an hour before the deadline, which i submitted January 2 because of the crash. My supplement essay was very poorly done in my opinion. Another rush right before the deadline to get them in. Honestly, I’m surprised at my acceptance since my essay was filled with grammar mistakes and all the good stuff that comes with procrastination.
Teacher Recommendations: Didn’t read, but I’m guessing very generic.
Counselor Rec: I’m guessing it was good, but how good can a counselor rec actually be.
Interview: Did not do.

Strengths: common app and supplement essays, extra curriculars, course rigor, sat score
Weaknesses: grades
Why you think you were accepted/deferred/rejected: I visited the school twice, did an interview and then wrote a great supplement essay. I applied ED 1 originally and was deferred so they knew my interest. I think my application overall was pretty strong for this school. I’m also really passionate about dance and I think that I conveyed that well through my application.
What would you have done differently? Nothing I got in lol
Other schools: Accepted at Trinity, Binghamton, Dickinson, Stony Brook, Geneseo, Connecticut College, Skidmore, Rejected from Middlebury, Waitlisted at Wesleyan and Colgate

Other Factors:
General Comments/Congratulations/Venting/Commiserations, etc: I’m really excited about getting in!!! Didn’t think I would after getting deferred ED. Its in my top 3 now!

Hi! I am also an accepted International Student.

I am really excited, but the financial aid package I received, only covers 50% of the total cost.
I know that it is a very generous offer, but it is still not affordable for me, so I will call the office to ask if there is a possibility about increasing aid.

Hamilton seems amazing, so I am keeping my fingers crossed.
Any recomendations from someone with a similar experience?

Macalester offered me the best aid/scholarship package, so right now it’s on the top of my list followed by Hamilton and Grinell. I was also accepted at Emory but offered no aid, so I had to cross it off my list. I was waitlisted at Middleburry, Wesleyan & Kenyon. Rejected from Amherst & Williams.

Congratulations on getting in to Hamilton. I noticed your bio as I’m researching for my daughter who is a Junior, and has a similar resume as you, although she may not quite reach your SAT scores. She is also a dancer and I always wondered it the admissions department really understand the effort put into it. We are visiting February and I was wondering exactly how do first reach out to the Dance department, she would just be interested to continue dancing but not as a major.
@Akqj10: If you will be visiting during the week, your daughter can simply arrange to attend a dance class. The admissions office can help her with this. In terms of the major-non-major distinction, it’s not particularly significant with respect to the courses a Hamilton student can take. Even “dance majors” aren’t dance majors until they declare a concentration in the second semester of sophomore year.
We are going Saturday Feb 20th for Junior previews days. Maybe we can just stopped by where the Dance studios are. We have only been on one college tour and it was in the summer so are new to this.
