Handwritten notes from regional reps?

hey, i was wondering if anyone besides me recieved a very nice, rather personal handwritten note from their regional rep at upenn? i got one from the admissions office and am curious if they honestly sent out 3,500+ of them. anyone else out there? it basically said congrats on your acceptance, we were impressed with your application specifically (in my case) leadership qualities. just curious–thanks!

my rep sent something to my college counselor about me, but i don't think she took the time to hand write it because i got in ED.

i doubt they did, so good job. you must've stood out a lot =)

I got a handwritten one ( I live in Arizona). It did it's job and made me feel bad since I'm not going to Penn next year...

anyone else? did anyone also get a call from a student in the admissions office?

I got a call from a student in the admissions office but not a handwritten note. The student was really nice and answered the questions I had about housing.

i got a note ED about my 'why penn' essay. they sent it to my interviewer, too, for him to read and get all nostalgic over.

i got a note as well....i am an EDer by the way....it was really nice of them to send one (i actually replied in an e-mail and thanked Mrs. Clark)

I got a great, personalized note from my rep as well.. I called to thank him, because it really made my day.

Doesnt this seem fairly egotistical? Who is more special to Penn?

I got a letter from the dean, like everyone else did. I also got a phonecall from my admissions officer, but as far as I can tell, she called all her admitted applicants...

i think it depends where you live. I'm in southern Cali so I dont think our regional rep could send a personal congrats to everyone... however she did invite us all to her house to talk about undergrad life.

I got a note too, caths2005. My note sounds like it's basically identical to yours! It said it was impressed with my leadership, academic record and loved my essay. It made me feel bad because I'm not going to Penn either. I also got a call from a student.

wishfulthinking--i figured it was some version of a form letter, but it was still nice to get in the mail. where are you going to go next year?

The letter was def a nice touch. I don't feel so bad turning Penn down now since it appears they're written to a good amount of acceptees (if not all).

caths2005--i'm probably going to princeton next year, although i'm taking a second look at penn. i got a letter today about the ben franklin scholars program, so i'm excited...have you decided yet?

I got one of those letters too...it went into detail about the best parts of my application and how i could contribute to the school. It made me feel really guilty because I'm going to Harvard, but I guess financial considerations and achieving one's ideal education are more important that getting a handwritten letter.

Got virtually no nots or calls. Ok, so scratch Penn off the list!
