Ok so I'm just curious, I'm a uc to uc transfer and a cs major with 3.5 gpa, maybe 3.6 by the end of fall, but assuming if I get rejected by those Uc's (UCB, UCLA, UCSD, UCI), but I have a gorgeous winter quarter which I got 4As and boosted my gpa to 3.8, will appeal help me get in? Will they look at my winter grade by then? Because I just realized my classes next quarter gonna be so easy for me even they are major related (cs, math and physics) and transferable, I should have taken them during the summer or at least this quarter, now I have to struggle on pulling up my gpa from god damn 3.5 sign

But anyway thanksgiving guys!!! :>

Btw my winter quarter ends at the end of March

The UC’s do not consider grades after the Fall Quarter/Semester prior to transfer. Also, high grades earned in Winter is not a strong reason for admission at all. You should only appeal if they made a mistake (like if they rejected you for a missing pre-req that you actually took) or if you forgot to put something on your application that would’ve helped you. It’s a bit early to think about appeals, especially since your GPA is solid and should get you into most of those schools (except Berkley possibly).

I agree with oceanpartier. However, I have also worked with students who successfully appealed with no compelling reason (at least not any that I could perceive). In those cases, students generally reiterated their academic strengths and potential contribution to the campus. The appeal pool is backup for the UCs to use for filling empty spaces, so it’s hard to say how/whether the campuses pull students out of the pool. It never hurts to try, just don’t bank on getting in through that channel (admit rate from appeal is dismal at best).

Thank you oceanpartier! Yea I know it is a bit early, but I’m just really really really nervous about my admission, since I’m an uc to uc transfer and there are so many uncertainties in my case. But I will keep working hard no doubt!

Thank you too MsSun! If I really get rejection yea I will definitely go for a try to appeal :)

I know you’re not asking to be chanced for those schools, but I’m going to do it anyway just so that you know where you stand in terms of admissions.

UCB - I’d say 0%-20% chance. The reason is that UCB “actively discourages intercampus transfers”. Also, CS in L&S is prolly impacted at UCB (EECS is deadly impacted obviously).

UCLA - 40%-50%. These guys actually weigh UC-UC transfers the same as CCC transfers, but I feel like your GPA might be a bit low to get into CS.

UCSD - 60-75% You’re in the ballpark for UCSD’s average GPA but being a UC-UC transfer requires you to have a higher GPA than most of your fellow CCC applicants.

UCI - 80%-100%

Good luck! And do apply to a few more safety UCs (such as UCSB) if you can.

This is impressive, thank you so much cinnabon1234!
Now I feel a lot more better because of you :)))))))
Yea I guess I will apply UCSB as well as UCD then, although I am not sure how is their CS department :D

Huh? UCB’s L&S CS isn’t impacted. And since when do community college students not get priority at UCLA?

^My bad, that’s why I said that CS “might” be impacted. I guess it isn’t. And I never said that CCC students don’t get priority at UCLA… I just said that they get looked at in the same way as UC-UC transfers do.

Yea and we can tell that from UCLA stat:
[Profile of Admitted Transfer Students, Fall 2012 - UCLA Undergraduate Admissions](http://www.admissions.ucla.edu/prospect/Adm_tr/Tr_Prof12.htm)
CCC has 30.84% admit rate
UC-UC has 22.48% admit rate
there is some difference but not large I guess, huh?

Thank you MsSun! You saved the heck of my life! because I didn’t realize I have to take one general chemistry before I saw your link. Now following by my new courses plan all the prereqs for UCLA would be done by spring :)

Glad I could help! Good luck!!!
