What is the hardest science/technology/engineering/math class you've ever had? What about non-STEM classes?

Inorganic chemistry. I had a reaaally bad teacher.

Im not done with school yet but Thermo-fluids was pretty tough. It was an interesting subject though so it really made me work hard at it and I ended up with a B.

Quantum mechanics.

Advanced Engineering Math in terms of sheer nebulousness (didn’t really study that hard).
Senior Project in terms of time. Putting 50+ hours a week into a class is not enjoyable.

Honors physics (what was I THINKING, signing up for that?!?).

Also, Architectural Design (I was an Arch E major). I do not have an artistic bone in my body. I was usually a straight A student, but I was lucky to get a C in there, working my butt off. (the reason I majored in Arch E was because I wanted to learn how to design BUILDINGS, not highways, drainage systems, etc.).

Catalysis [10 char]

Viscous Flow and Heat Transfer

That was a hella hard class, though I did well in it. It was a grad class that I took in undergrad, so I was competing on the curve with a bunch of grad students, and to add insult to injury, it is a very complex subject to begin with. Luckily I enjoyed it or I would have been screwed.

Hardest “non-STEM” class that I had, for me, was probably Greek mythology since it was a lot of memorization and reading, and I HATE memorization and had a lot more important things to do than put the effort into reading that I should have.

Modern physics

combinatorics

Materials physics

Quantum Mechanics is easily the worst. #2 would probably be Deforms.

Particle Dynamics

Entire class worked on homework each week together, still had a ton of trouble. Especially when professor wouldnt give a single hint or clue as to helping with the most difficult problems.

^^^Ugh, that was one of my pet peeves. When a class is really TRYING to get it, but is struggling, and the prof doesn’t seem to care. I had an Intro to EE teacher like that. What a miserable experience.

I see a lot of Quantum Mechanics. Strange. It was a hard class when I took it, sure, but my E&M Class was easily harder than the QM one. Perhaps it was just the teacher…

UIUC CEE 471 Structural Mechanics with Keith Hjelmstad. We made a commemorative t-shirt when we got through it.

Thus far Systems Programming. The topic is of reasonable difficulty, the class however is the biggest weed out course at my school.

So far it has to be ECE 290 (Comp Engineering I). QM wasn’t that bad to me.

Organic chemistry 2 during this past summer. I passed but wasn’t pretty at all :(

Some stupid 7:30AM EE class with the most boring professor the world has ever seen. And I had little interest in the class.
