Which subject tests are the hardest/easiest? And which ones will look better for college apps? Are there any that you can just take without studying much?
physics and world history both allow you to miss 15+ questions and still have an 800. the content itself is easily covered by a physics 1/APworld class, and if you’re good in those classes you probably don’t need outside studying to ace! colleges also rlly care about seeing math II if you want to do business/stem
The answer is not the same for everyone. A lot depends on your personal academic strengths.
Of course if you are fluent in a language like Spanish or Korean that should be very easy for you. The general rule of thumb is just to take subject tests in subjects that you are good at. They show to colleges your proficiency in certain subjects and your academic drive.
Top colleges have little interest in Subject Tests in a foreign language in which one is fluent. It’s like a native English speaker submitting TOEFL
“which ones will look better for college apps?”
The hardest ones. Nope, no wowing adcoms for taking the easy way.
Completely dependent on the student student’s abilities. As noted, languages have the highest averages, but that’s because native speakers mostly take them. Spoken Chinese certainly is not “easy” for the average student. Among non-languages, Math2 has the highest average, but again, this is because very talented math students take it.
Take the subject that you know best, are most comfortable with.
In terms of what schools are looking for - depends on the school/major. Most STEM schools/majors want a Math and a Science. When one is specified, it’s usually Physics or Chem. The two History plus Literature would be fine for other majors, or to round out a. STEM application.
Math level 2 is commonly an easy 800 for strong math students completing precalculus. There is a selection effect in that those completing precalculus in 11th grade tend to be stronger math students, since they are a grade advanced.
AP physics 1 does not cover all topics on the subject test, although it covers things in greater depth.
Second this. For me, world history was a combination of common knowledge and common sense
For a student who is proficient in Math and English, and taking Math II and Literature subject tests, it is harder to score at or above a mid 700s in Literature, than it is to score an 800 in Math II.
Hi all! If I am a sophomore in AP Calc AB, but don’t feel solid in some of the earlier concepts (series, conics, coordinate geometry), do I still have a chance of acing SAT Math II in June? Thanks for all the helpful info I’ve seen so far!
@kukido004 You have plenty of time so I would think so. Since you have already completed precalculus, the sooner you take it the better so the information is fresh in your mind.
