Harps at Wellesley?...

Hello! =D

So, I am applying to Wellesley (ED!) and I have a question....

I play the harp, (have been playing for 6 years) and I haven't decided whether I will major in Music but I still would like to perform during my college years. I know there are the Wellesley-Brandeis Orchestra and the Chamber Music Society, but I couldn't find any information about harpists in those groups. Are there any other opportunities for me to play the harp at Wellesley?........

I'd greatly appreciate any information! (:

i’m pretty sure there is someone who plays the harp in the chamber music society. beyond that, i have not heard of anyone. you harpists are few and far between (but very cool though)!!

Hi!

As an alum I recall a classmate played the harp at Wellesley, and she was not a music major.

On the Wellesley Chamber Music Society web page , I found the following:

“The Wellesley College Chamber Music Society offers an opportunity for small ensembles including strings, winds, guitar, harp, piano, harpsichord and voice to explore chamber music works of the last three centuries.” Check out their web page [Welcome to the Chamber Music Society](http://www.wellesley.edu/Music/CMS/main/main.html) for more information. This page will give you succinct info, but I am sure that the Music department can refer you the someone with the Chamber Music Society (-:

To answer your question, there are opportunities for harp players at Wellesley through the Chamber Music Society, as mentioned above, as well as through private music instruction which includes the harp. I know that MIT also has a chamber orchestra and a symphony orchestra; perhaps you can investigate these avenues as well.

I have always admired harp players because they create such beautiful music! Good luck with your application. Write back if you have any other questions (-:
