MIT Orchestra

Hi all,

I know that as Wellesley students, you have the option of playing in the MIT orchestra. What are peoples' experiences with this? I know it may be somewhat difficult for a college student to be traveling into Boston twice a week for rehearsals.

Also, how is the music department at Wellesley? I play the viola (in an orchestra that consistently sends seniors to top conservatories), so I'm curious as to what sort of performance opportunities it offers. (I'm a junior in HS.)

No responses? I’d still appreciate any input.

MITSO – cool crowd. You have to go to MIT for practice but it’s a chance for you to get off campus and do something fun/meet other people, so a lot of people appreciate that. My friends have enjoyed their time in it. Try it and see if you like it too.

I don’t know much about the music department, though I seem to know lots of people who play the viola. You have lots of options: Brandeis-Wellesley Orchestra, MIT Orchestra, Chamber Music Society, and a few other music groups also. Search around the Wellesley site and you’ll find lots of info.

Wellesley has the Brandeis-Wellesley orchestra. i don’t know of anyone who plays with MIT… WBO is really good  and its great that you can combien with a school with non-sciency music majors etc…
