I probably wouldn't worry until Friday or so.

I just got my letter of acceptance for University Honors. The envelope was postmarked December 22.

ACT: 33
GPA: 4.0
Home-schooled with all independent study distance-learning courses.

I got my letter for Honors today too. The odds of me going to Miami have now decreased. $2,000 is not enough money to make it affordable.

33 ACT
6/214 class rank
4.2 GPA

I know how that goes. Miami's not my first choice, but it's looking better money-wise just because I qualify for the Access Initiative.

Congrats everyone, and I hope to see you in February or at one of the overnights! Also, remember that the $2000 for Honors is only the money offered through the Honors program. You'll still qualify for scholarships through the financial aid office (I've heard that some total packages are very nice), but you won't hear about those until later (March, I think).

Just another confirmation on what aussie stated: You may receive a very different financial package in March, which can include additional merit money as well as need-based money -- beyond the honors or scholars amounts. Don't write off Miami yet.

My D was accepted to Honors last year with similar stats. There are much more than $2000 for these type of applicants. Her tuition is close to nothing after all scholarships. All of them are academic and she did not apply to them. Make sure that parents apply to FASFA. We did not receive any need based, but they stressed that it is still somehow make the difference in total financial package, which will be awesome when you get it later. However, we are in-state and D received additional academic scholarships from state of Ohio for being top of her class.

We are out of state, and my D did not get into Honors (a mistake on the part of the school, IMHO, not understanding her foreign transcript! She is in the scholars program instead.) However, she still got enough scholarships that we are paying less than half the total cost. Still probably significantly more than what an in-state student would pay, but it certainly made a difference in our decision to let her attend there.

revival!!!

haha ivayhopeful. anyone get anything yet? you would think they could send us an email or something
