Did anyone sign up for the email decision from Harvard? This is a pointless thread, but I thought I'd ask...

yes i did. did you?

yep! i'm dreading the day I click on my Firefox and see an email..

haha...don't worry about it...in some ways...i feel the email is better...than the tiny little envelope...

what school are you at now, beechbum? did you have an interview?

do they send E-mails? I know they did for freshman admission, and they have it on the confirmation page, but I thought it said on the website somewhere that it was "mailed no later than June 1"

Anyone talk to them about when/how we should hear back?

oh yeah i'd forgotten that i signed up for that. that will suck since the internet connection from my home is uber slow. i'm totally expecting not to get in and it'll be really, really awsome if i do. i talked to them to try and get an early decision in case fin aid with gtown doesn't work out and i have to adhere to deposit deadlines and barnard/wellesley, and no luck. they didn't ask for my name or anything, but stuck with their "late may" line.

"what school are you at now, beechbum? did you have an interview?"

I'm at Florida State right now. No, I didn't have an interview...i actually just applied to Harvard on a whim. I'm not counting on anything great to come out of it at all.

That seems really irresponsible of them, for shaganov, not to give you an early decision...maybe you should call back again tomorrow and see if you can get someone else.

yeah the woman was really rude and said that "harvard doesn't do early decisions." Thankfully, a deposit at Barnard is only 200 dollars as opposed to the 900 at Georgetown, which isn't due til June 15, and if my mom can get enough fin aid out of Gtown tomorrow I won't need the early decision at all. but grrrr i don't know what i'm going to do if she can't....

i couldn't have helped but chuckle had i been on the receiving end of the line of the phrase "harvard doesn't do early decisions." please.

I'm not sure about that. Nattiebee definitely got an early decision last year. Although, I think she might have got it closer to the actual decision release date; maybe a week or so before.

if i'd given her my name and she'd told me she couldn't give me one i would have taken that as a sign that i didn't get in, but she just "offered" it as a blanket statement. and had i not been so ****ed, i would have laughed... that is a ridiculous way to phrase "sorry, we can't."

Is Georgetown's deposit fee not unusually high? Rice's is $100, and $50 extra to be placed on the housing waitlist. UChicago's is, I think, $300.

i know! but thankfully they have a deposit deadline of june 15, so barring a harvard waitlist, i'll be able to know whether i'm going there or not. whew.

Keep in mind that June 15th is not a postmark deadline.
