Is anyone else having similar feelings to this? I have no idea why, but for the past couple of weeks I've really been wishing that I hadn't gotten in to Harvard and that I was going to Georgetown. I can't explain why and it's too late for me to do anything about it now, I've already accepted a place at Harvard and sent back my reply card to Georgetown. I loved Harvard so much all year, went there all the time, couldn't imagine myself anywhere else... I don't really know why I feel this way all of a sudden. It's not happening with any of the other schools I applied to, like Barnard, which I liked just as much as I liked Georgetown. Hopefully this will go away, but I'm so close to calling Gtown and just asking them if we can works something out...

Nerves perhaps? Or maybe that **** **** of a President Harvard has in Summers?

I'm sure it will pass (resist the urge to pick up the phone), I can't say I haven't felt the same way about Berkeley at times.

Have you actually been to the school? I'm sure everything will change when you take your first step on Harvard grounds.

you probably just have cold feet. actually, as i was washing out some dishes in the lab im working at about 5 minutes ago (i probably shouldnt be on cc right now but what can you do), i was thinking about how much i would like dartmouth and that i should have chosen to go there. really, i think well love harvard and everything cambridge has to offer. but if you really think youd like georgetown better (my best friend goes there, and its awesome), call them up and they might be able to find a spot for you.

good luck!

ps- if you decide to go to harvard, were going to newbury street.

For Shaganov,

YOU ARE INSANE. There are people that would give limbs, organs, and kill for Harvard.

I wish i had your problems.

For Shaganov that's one "high quality" problem you've got ;-)

ha, i feel you, i'm at work too. you know, maybe it's angst about going in january we're having? it seems a little daunting to go to this place that i have such high expectations of at such an unusual time. what i keep telling myself is that it will be worth it when i get there, and i really do love harvard and boston and always have. I'm going to visit on my way to Nantucket at the end of July and hopefully that will get me re-excited, i'm sure it will.
and not only newbury street, but red sox games! i guess that's no big deal for you, but as one of literally two red sox fans in the entire city of st. louis, I CANNOT WAIT. when the red sox beat the cardinals in the world series two years ago my friend and i were weeping we were so happy and everyone was so depressed, haha. i'll be there to celebrate with everyone next time!

well july4, it's easy to say that, but just because it's harvard doesn't mean it's necissarily the BEST place for me. i obviously can't go WRONG, but that's not what I'm trying to figure out right now.

you've gotta be kidding me...second thoughts about harvard...

you need to study abroad in africa or something so you can see a real problem.

^ That was funny

He resigned.

For Shaganov,

Go to Harvard.

i knew someone was going to say what brand182 said. i'm obviously aware that this isn't a "real problem." most people on this board ask about things that aren't genocide, famine and disease, aka real problems, and get answers without being dismissed as trivial, and again, just because this is harvard doesn't make it better for me than georgetown.

heres another way to look at it:
red sox > nationals

it will be fine once we get there. it is a pretty great place, and a friendly place to transfer to. boston is THE college town. i also prefer lobster to crabcakes.

ps. i think that a college website is the perfect place to talk about college issues. it is also a good place to pass the time while youre at work and waiting for reactions to happen.

Shaganov I think you should call harvard, tell them that you changed your mind, THEN call georgetown and see if they still have a spot. Hopefully by then georgetown won't have a spot and Harvard wont take you back. Mwuhahaha

I know many students here who turned down Harvard; however, they turned down Harvard for the SFS, and the SFS is truly unmatched.

Funny memory, though: I know a student who turned down Harvard for the SFS, but then transferred to the college. Err.

At any rate, in my opinion, turning down Harvard for Georgetown is pretty frickin' stupid. I usually smirk when I hear the "I turned down Harvard stories."

whats SFS?

"He resigned."

Good to hear.

Go to Harvard. Go in with no regrets. If you don't you will be disappointed.

"whats SFS?"

A school exclusively for studying abroad.

Uhhh... no.

It is the School of Foreign Service.

sfs.georgetown.edu

you're crazy! Just go to Harvard! It's been your dream school anyway.
Maybe you're thinking too much..

I don't normally respond to threads like this because honestly I don't think it's any of my business... however, I've been in a similar situation as you. I think you need to sit down and think about why you are going to Harvard, and why right now you think Georgetown may be the better answer. I don't know you, or your history... or your motivation, but I do know all about those little things that eat at you at night because you think you may have made the wrong choice. Many times in my life I did things that I thought others expected of me, or wanted from me... it's one of the reasons I got into Engineering in the first place. It took some serious thinking to realize where my place was and where I should be. Also, try not to think so terminal... you can give Harvard a shot, but you surely won't be stuck there if you hate it and it just doesn't work out. Again, the main reason why I think these threads are pointless for me to respond in is... deep down you know what's right, and no matter what any of us say... you need to figure out what that is and listen to it.
