Harvard 2016 Official Transfer Thread

@Systema I did. Questions were basic “why Harvard” and “what do you do for fun?” esque. Certainly nothing like “what is the meaning of life?” I’m unsure what it means (ask me in a week or so haha).

so nervous

@notarobot124 “It seems like the other schools like Cornell have a large pool of applicants who just want to get into an Ivy”

I think that’s an unfair generalization to make. Certainly many applicants may be applying from fine institutions, but everyone has different reasons on specifically why they wish to transfer. Some may find that their current school is not satisfying them academically or professionally, which is fair given that Cornell has the Hotel School and ILR school. Also, transferring may yield better financial aid as well for some applicants. In the end only a handful of people are selected to be admitted anyway, no matter what the applicant pool looks like or their reasons for transferring so its best to apply broadly. I think you will see overlap between the transfer applicants for Harvard, Cornell, and other peer institutions

Let’s keep it lighthearted guys. No harm no foul.

Yeah, decisions will be out soon anyways. There is more important stuff to focus on compared to bickering about these tangential things. Is it possible that decisions will be out on 5/6? It’s a Friday and historically they’ve come out on Fridays.

@Zwischenzug I am pretty certain they will come out this Friday unless they are backed up. For sure it is either this Friday or next Friday. But I would bet a lot that it is this week.

Yeah me too that is what I’m expecting. Stanford is supposed to come out 5/6 at 4 pm ish, it would make sense for both of them to release on the same day. I don’t know about Yale and Brown - the two other schools I applied to.

yes, I think we can safely assume this. Plus, it goes with last year’s trend at Harvard.

so i called harvard admissions today, and apparently decisions for transfers aren’t going to be released until nearly june 1st…

That is truly sad. I wonder if that means there were more applicants this year?

i concur. maybe us transfers will luck out though and a bunch of freshman will take a gap year haaha. either way, i’m not looking forward to being nervous for the next month.

I think Harvard stating June 1st is a formality more than anything.

Hi guys! What’s the general average transfer rate for Harvard U? On Google it says it’s 1% and I was really confused. Is it really hard to get in as a transfer than getting in as an undergraduate freshmen???

@freshlemon123 It’s virtually impossible, next to Princeton which is literally impossible to transfer into (until 2018 haha). We’re all waiting here with that false hope of maybe winning the lottery. But hey, you’ve gotta be in it to win it, right?

@Jacob4815162342 anything is possible! Good luck to you. But why would you say “until 2018”…?

Do we know when desicions are released?

Somebody said it would be today - but that was never confirmed so I’m guessing it’ll be later.

@freshlemon123 Princeton will begin accepting transfer applications in 2018.

Decisions are out I believe

Yep
