Harvard athletic recruit academic stats

How does the harvard recruiting process work? Please post gpa, sat, major awards etc for harvard recruited athletes.

I could give you some scores and GPA, but one data point won’t be very helpful. There are a lot of threads on the academic requirements for an Ivy athlete, but in a nutshell, for non-football sports a Harvard recruit should have an Academic Index around 210. That corresponds roughly to a combined math and CR SAT of 1440 and a class rank in the top 5%. Major awards are generally few as the recruited athletes spend so much time training and competing in their sport, it doesn’t leave a lot of time for other pursuits.

There are anecdotes of athletes being admitted with far lower marks, but in general the above marks are considered safe.

Can someone please clarify if the AI is calculated using weighted or unweighted GPA? Thanks!

Rank is preferred over GPA, but if rank is unavailable there is a scale for weighted, with 4.3 and up worth 80 AI points, as well as a scale for unweighted.

The scale on the link below shows the conversion of unweighted and weighted GPA to the CRS Academic Index score.

The two links below are useful in the calculating the Academic Index.

Those are great links, bball. Should help answer a lot of questions.

A problem with this board is that there is no archive or library function available for useful materials and files that are of common interest as new users come to the board in their quest for info regarding high academic athletic recruiting. The links in the post below have been posted several times, but are deeply buried in past threads.

Another invaluable resource is Varska’s guide to Ivy Athletic recruiting.

Other Forums have important/useful threads tagged as IMPORTANT, by moderators. The threads are made “sticky” so they appear at the top of each forum, and can be readily accessed.

Perhaps the moderators or admins for this Athletic Recruits forum can identify and ‘sticky’ some of the most useful/important threads relative to athletic recruiting …and start a new sticky thread with a series of useful external links, resources, matrices, etc.?

BBalldad: thank you for the excellent links! What is “CCO.MKA”?

Does anyone have that conversion formula for high schools that don;t rank?

oops, sorry – found it, thanks!

Wait how is having a 1440+ SAT and top 5% class rank any different from not even being a recruited athlete? So are you saying being a recruited athlete is not an advantage?

Those stats would mean you are a typical H applicant with an admit rate around 6-7%. A recruited (LL) athlete with those numbers would have a ~95% + admit rate. Big advantage.
