@CSGoodness and @Jehkobe: While New York, New Jersey, California, and Massachusetts are indeed populous states with good schools, I doubt that Harvard receives over half of their non-international applications from just those four states, yet the acceptance rate from those four states is 51.5%. The percentages just seems out of whack in relation to the other 46 states in the country. After all Florida and Texas are more populous than New York – and Illinois, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Georgia, Michigan and North Carolina are more populous than New Jersey: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_U.S._states_and_territories_by_population
@gibby, the 4 states with the highest NMS qualifying scores are, I think not coincidentally, those very same states. There are many high-achieving (or at least, high-scoring) kids in those states relative to their populations (or the population that takes the PSAT).
Hi everyone,
My D applied to Harvard and I am anxiously waiting for the decisions to be released. I just logged into her portal and saw she is able to upload docs, letters of recs up till 3/31. I would assume the school already knows who they are admitting before that date. Any ideas when decisions will be released?
Thank you and Good luck to everyone.
@nel626: By Ivy League Conference rules, all RD decisions come out on the same day for Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Columbia, Cornell, UPenn, Brown and Dartmouth: Tuesday March 31, 2015 after 5pm Eastern Time.
Thank you @gibby
4 MORE DAYS!
Best of luck everyone! I’ll take it that 3/31 is in fact the correct date and it wasn’t 4 days earlier (like how some people thought it would be)?
I’m not sure who “some people” are, but I’ve always assumed Ivy Day to be 3/31, because that’s what they told us.
I’m not expecting too much on Tuesday but good luck to all! And remember: your success is not defined by the college you attend.
Just got rejected from Stanford, let’s hope for some better news here!!!
@wilguen me too! … keeping a small sliver of hope but trying not to let my hope grow too big for Harvard
@binatang It’s tough ahahah, although I wasn’t expecting much from Stanford considering that terrifying 3.8% acceptance rate. Can’t expect much from Harvard either though!
Just got accepted to GW with $25K scholarship! Still waiting on decision from Harvard, but it looks like I’ll be in DC next year!
According to my countdown app (yes, I have one of those), we have 3 days, 19 hours, 54 minutes, and 40 seconds
@eabs97 and 44 milliseconds…
Got waitlisted and Johns Hopkins. Rejected from Stanford… Confidence crushed
Rejected from Amherst and Georgetown… Nothing left to do but hope for the best
How did you find out your Georgetown decision? I thought the just mailed decisions today?
I’m an international student so it was emailed
Are Harvard interviews really selective? I’m an international applicant and I was interviewed by two interviewers, quite weird.
