Also I’m in the same boat as @Dhruv97. I got rejected everywhere except my safeties and I know that says something but I’m just hoping for a miracle that somehow, Harvard can see the potential I have and if not then it wasn’t meant to be and safety it is! Good luck to all!
Wow. I just woke up. I cannot believe I ACTUALLY slept. It’s also ironic because I dreamt that I couldn’t get to sleep. Oh well, let the anxious waiting continue!
Coming from the UK, I find it odd some people have a “why not” attitude to top schools. Here, our equivalents are extremely self selecting, i guess due to higher explicit set requirements? Whereas american colleges are often more “holistic”. I’m not trying to insult anyone - it’s just strange to me coming from such a different “culture”.
Did you guys get an email from Harvard (like from the other colleges) saying that they would release at 5pm?

No matter what happens, keep your head high. Life goes on and you will eventually end up at a great university! All of you are incredibly talented and will succeed no matter what university u go to!
Just REMEMBER: Your ultimate goal in life shouldn’t be to get accepted into Harvard! You should look beyond that! What you wish to do with the education you gain and how you can help others!
I understand how Harvard might mean the world to you, but don’t let any one failure get you down!
The very fact you had courage to apply to such an amazing college is an achievement in itself!

Just got a message from my boss saying I don’t have to work today… There goes my 8 hours of distraction. At least I can now check at five and have a panic attack while refreshing…
Purdue is a good school, but I really want an Ivy. I’d take an Ivy over a full ride to Purdue any day
@Dhruv97 I can’t decide. I got into Berkeley engineering–which, of all the schools I applied for, is the best engineering school. But Harvard is, well, Harvard. Conjecture at this point but still.

I’m also anxiously waiting for my Harvard decision. However, I have a question for fellow future engineers. I was accepted to Georgia Tech which is ranked much higher in my major (biomedical engineering) than Harvard.
Is there anyone else in similar situations, and do you feel it’s better to consider a school based on its ranking overall or its ranking on your particular major.
Well I think the overall rating is really important, when it comes to universities such as Harvard.

@cvisser96 Thanks for posting the link to that article—fascinating! The variation in different readers’ numerical rankings of the applicant were especially interesting, as was the fact that one of the readers had obviously confused the applicant with someone else in one part. This just goes to show that the admissions process is far from perfect, though there are checks and balances built in.
Super anxious waiting, basically trying to ignore all the post for the many geniuses here ( I wish all of you luck and congrats if accepted) and hoping that Harvard saw in my D what it takes to be an awesome student and give as much as take to the Harvard community. I can’t say that whatever happens, happens, because with almost no resources to help her with financial aid she will have limited choices.
She put her RD early, we completed all the documentation applications etc early, she was interviewed early on, she had a great interview. Her scores are not that great, she had a former Harvard alumni writing one of her teacher recommendation. Just trying to stay positive and hope for the best!
I’ve accepted it’s not happening. If I get it that will be a pleasant surprise but I’ve completely put away all hope in my mind which is a very liberating feeling. I’m spending my day thinking about my other 3 accepts and trying to work on making a decision between them!
