Harvard Class of 2021 RD Thread

@DreamforIvy Yeah, and I know my alumni interviewer didn’t just forget to turn in his evaluation because my AO talked about the alumnus and the interview.

@nillupa While a 1330 is a good score on the SAT, it isn’t a great score, and probably isn’t good enough for the Ivies unless other areas incredibly outstanding. My son got a 1530 and may not get into any Ivies. We’ll see. Honestly, while those are good stats, they aren’t great. Ivy great.

Did Harvard send out ANY decisions yet?

@AonkonDey ivy day is March 30. They’re not allowed to release any decisions before that.

Congrats @brennan0111 !

I only just got a call from AO that I’ll be getting a likely letter tomorrow… so don’t lose hope if you haven’t gotten one

@crocadile1246 I’m from NC… and I got my likely letter a few minutes ago

@Mosper thank you!! I wish a sincere good luck to everyone!!

What’s a “likely letter” btw :confused:

@AonkonDey It’s a letter saying that you’re basically in!

Are likely letters only for athletes or are they for extremely qualified accepted students in general? Also, would I be correct in assuming that not every accepted student gets a likely letter?

@17moonshine How did your first interview go? When I went to my interview, the person in charge (there were 40-50 students there for interviews) spoke to us before we were assigned an interviewer, and he said that they do sometimes give people second interviews. So he told us not to sweat it if the interview didn’t go well, because if you had good stats, good recs, and so on but your interview didn’t match up, they would let you do it again in case the bad interview was a fluke.

I could be wrong but I think MOST non-athlete applicants that are accepted do NOT receive likely letters. But I’m not 100% sure.

I think only 5% of accepted students in the Ivies get likely letters, the number is a bit higher for athletes
at either Yale or Brown 100 nonathletes get them and 200-300 athletes get one

Ivy League limits the number of recruited athletes. AFAIK, Harvard does not release the number of annual recruits, but I believe it is ~205.

I just got a call that I’m getting a a likely letter! I’M DEAD.

@LindsayHarvard congrats! What was the area code of the number?

@DreamforIvy 617.

On another topic does anyone think they sent out more likely letters this year? I’ve seen a lot of people get one.

Are there any other applicants who were deferred SCEA lingering on this thread? I have never been more stressed than I am right now. X_X
