Also - read in some other thread that ~:> brings good luck. So here is ~:> to all of us!
Do you guys think that they’re done reviewing unhooked apps?
Really, how much of a boost is being an enrolled Native American?
@fedfan1998 what do u mean by “unhooked”?
@katz2410 i assume he means non-URM, non-legacy, non-athletes.
How much do SAT subject tests matter? I’m nervous about my scores. I indicated my major as physical sciences and got a 750 on math 2 and 760 on chemistry. I have a 35 ACT, 5 on AP Calc and 4 on AP chem exams, and essentially straight As with a lot of advanced science courses, so I feel like the subject tests aren’t consistent with everything else
Those scores aren’t bad enough to significantly weigh you down (they’re not bad at all in fact). I wouldn’t stress too much.
Also, one more week!!!
Does anyone else have a red X by the midyear report? I’ve heard that this is only a requirement for regular decision/deferrals but just thought I’d check. I dont want an incomplete application
Looking at other EA threads, wonder why our thread @2021applicant yes - mid year report will show X. Not expected till Feb 2017.
Has there be any confirmation that decisions will be released at 5 on December 13?

at the bottom of the article, it says the announcement date is the 13th
The waiting is killing me. I go to an extremely competitive public high school and have a lot of friends that are also competitive and top applicants. It’s difficult to deal with the potential bragging I might hear from them and the nearly inevitable inability to brag that I’ll have in just a week. I know Harvard isn’t the end all be all, but I want to get in. So, so bad.
@Applyingfor2017 The important thing is to remember that with regards to your college admissions, no one matters but you. Don’t allow the hubris or smugness of peers put a damper on your outlook; statistically, we both know the odds are slim, and I’ve made sure to tell my friends and family that I do NOT plan on getting in early, as I simply don’t. But that doesn’t define me, nor does it define you. Just remember that you’ve done the best you can, and you’re in the top fraction of a percentile of high-school students in the country, even though being at a competitive school may make you feel like your accomplishments are commonplace (believe me, I know…). You’ll be fine no matter where you end up, and, frankly, you’ll end up somewhere fine no matter what That being said, I sure as hell hope you do get in next Tuesday.
Hello from the UChicago EA/ED thread! Bonne Chance!
Anyone applying from the Bay Area? This is probably one of the most competitive regions in the nation. Also I heard that Harvard only reserves one or two spots for each city district region? I don’t know if this is true. Do they do decisions primarily locally in EA?
Thanks @smartspencer ! Good luck to you too!
@Applyingfor2017 I think the environment you’re in can definitely affect your self-esteem. I go to a public school as well, but it’s definitely not competitive nor filled with top students. My classmates would probably be impressed by anyone who even applied to Harvard! (Not that I’ve told any of my peers). I think what you need to do is just focus on yourself. I have a few friends/acquaintances that are also applying to top universities, and I’ve really tried not to compare myself to them, nor take any outcome personally. I’m also surprised by how easy it’s been for me to feel happy for other people’s accomplishments, even when it’s meant I didn’t get the award/accomplishment/etc. It’s really important to remember that we’re all unique, and we all have our own strengths and weaknesses. Someone else’s acceptance to an elite university does not negate your worth nor accomplishments, even if you do not get in.
Stay strong everyone! 7 days!
@dwxc17 omg I’m from the Bay! Super nervous–I’m worried about there being a quota as well
If you guys don’t mind, would you be willing to share how long your optional Harvard supplement was? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/harvard-university/1942944-how-long-was-your-harvard-supplement.html#latest
AAAAAAAAAAAH how do we do this waiting thing
Has anyone else planned their day of notification out based on their admissions decision (one plan depending on acceptance, rejection, or deferral) or is that just me…
@VeckaTmiest I think that’s why Harvard tries to notify applicants in the evening. But again, it depends on where you live. If I lived on the West Coast or was an international applicant, I’d probably wait until I got home to check it.
