Harvard Class of 2021 SCEA Applicants Discussion

@WrathOfGod1999 most likely 5 pm EST

Cornell’s decisions are out

@lemon415 - if you were browsing FB for Harvard, perhaps the notification was automatic.

do you guys think that being a girl in computer science could be a hook/give me a better chance?

@lilylilylily - that is very good wishful thinking, but I am afraid may not be the case IMO

yeah I didn’t think so either, but it definitely can’t hurt! best of luck to you… I’ve been creeping on this forum forever and just decided to formally join the puddle of collective anxiety

Yeah, I was looking through Cornell’s threads and it seems like they reject significantly more applicants ED than Harvard does. It’s interesting how the Ivies differ.

Who are you guys getting to read over your supplements? I feel like giving them all to my english teacher or counselor is burdensome but I also need them edited.

I emailed the admissions office with a question about the decisions release date. I know that Barnard ED applicants got an email saying that the decisions for them will be released on Dec 13 @ 5pm, so I think something similar is expected from Harvard. I highly doubt they would just consider mentioning it in the end of a Crimson article to be enough.

Presuming it is in fact Dec 13th, what are you guys/gals/nonbinary pals going to be doing the day the decisions come out? My bff (who is getting her ED the same day) and I are going to get some comfort food

me too. Foodie for life xp

hey y’all just joined today! glad this exists : )

@yuvanni don’t quote me on this, but i was looking on the scea 2020 thread nd it seems like there wasn’t any prior notif via email about decisions being out last year? i might be wrong tho

@lilylilylily i think it actually does give you an advantage if your classes indicate that you’re interested in and good at science. my college counselor says that the admissions officers are told to look for certain characteristics that are lacking at the school. computer science is a fairly new field, and it is definitely lacking in women, so i think it could possibly help you

How is there already a Harvard University Class of 2021 Facebook group with 138 members in it? Are these gap year students, transfers, already-committed athletes, or early early accepted applicants?

Wow really? if there is one then I would agree that those should be recruited athletes and other pre-admitted kids for some reason. But I’m not sure.

@dwxc17 yo i looked at the members in the Facebook group, and they all seem to have already gone to college. haha so i don’t think this is for Harvard undergrad aka Harvard College (bc it says Harvard UNIVERSITY, which is not for undergrads). the undergrad groups are just Harvard Class of XXXX

Where are you from?

any immigrants here?

@yuvanni Mee! :slight_smile:
