Harvard Class of 2023 RD

@Flying2 congratulations on your medal! I got a Gold Key but no medal for my art piece. As far as the response you got, you never know. Good luck!

@Flying2 and @UMDreamer wowwww congratulations on your awards! ?

@Flying2 It mostly is a +ve sign. Nothing definitive, but definitely +ve and favorable.

But this comes with the clause that almost all decisions are already made and its uncertain as to your app/its relevant parts will be re-reviewed in light of this new information this late (a week before Ivy Day)

Again, the best method is to upload the documents on your portal, since that guarantees an applicant update and double measure.

Congrats.

No. It simply means that s/he is going over-and-above what is required etiquette-wise for email communications. Not to say you won’t get accepted, but read nothing into the email. Good luck.

@Flying2 I know it is very possible the AO was just being nice, but with so many kids sending updates, I would say it is a very good sign. AOs and alums usually go out of their ways to show the niceness to the admitted students so that they will enroll. DD sent an unofficial midyear transcript to one of the top schools and received an extremely nice email from her AO telling DD the college already received the official report from her high school. I view that as a very good sign.

We will find out in less than a week now and should come back and report the result to help people in the future.

@ashley_2023 thank you! That means a lot to me! Good luck with all your college decisions.?

@Flying2 Did you send your update as an email? If so, why not just update the portal like it says on Harvard’s site?

anxiously awaiting ivy day! i’ve thought about this day since the end of junior year, when i really started to look into college applications and decisions.

i attended the harvard pre-college program this past summer and immediately fell in love with the school. i don’t expect to get in, but i am excited/terrified for the results!

good luck to any other seniors out there! i know that it’s a shaky time of year and i only wish the best for all of you. these CC forums have really helped me cope with the waiting, lol. at least the wait is almost over!

@scrunchies86: Best of luck to you and others on this thread. No matter what happens, please know that being accepted to Harvard or being rejected by Harvard has absolutely no bearing on how successful you will be. I very much subscribe to Jeffrey Brenzel’s way of thinking over at Yale: https://admissions.yale.edu/after-colleges-accept-you

Guys I checked my Harvard application portal today and noticed that in the “We have received the following documents from you” section, there was a new update that read “03/19/2019 02:44 AM - Academic Work”, which is really weird because I never sent Harvard any supplementary material after January 1. I guess it’s nothing important, but can anyone explain to me what this can be about? I’m just genuinely curious.

It’s your transcript that you did for a course outside of your HS

I agree with @Suave123

Its that, or probably an error on their behalf.

Certainly not any discern-able sign though.

Yeah I never took a course outside of school so it’s probs an error. Thanks!

No worries @cy9912

If you dont know why you got that update, you can always email them and ask about it, no repercussions…

I got the same thing - it’s Feb 22nd At 2am?? @cy9912

I am a gap year student so I do not have any mid year grades to report, but on my portal it still shows up with an X and “awaiting” next to it, should I email them to make sure they are aware?

Also, I am an international student so they accept February ACT scores for me, I sent them officially and i used the SELF REPORT button but they havent shown up on the portal either, my December date is there… Should I have uploaded it in the supplementary part or done something else?!

@collegebritgirl8

U shouldve uploaded it in the supplementary.

Regarding the rest and the Feb ACT, better send them an email explaining this and/or upload the same onto the supplementary materials space (as a letter).

As long as the Feb ACT is confirmed to be officially reported, u should b fine to say the least. Sending them an email regarding this and uploading appropriate content onto the supplementary doc space is a given measure IMO.

@TheGuy1 thanks! ill do it right now

@collegebritgirl8 No problem! Glad to have helped.

@cy9912 @toomanydonuts I also got “Academic Work” on my portal, from mid-February, which is weird cuz I haven’t sent them anything either. I also haven’t done any courses outside school
