@BaddBadtz Alumni interview, which may happen at a school.
if its an interview or call of the GC and an alum/adcom, that makes sense too, but its not being referred to here.
Thanks for the helpful pointer @drumminggeek87 Ur personal anecdotes add credibility to the discussion. I agree with u.
@MTM542577 I agree, but i just dk when exactly do they have the finalized list of apps ready? Like 2 weeks before Ivy Day? Also I agree with the WL sitch u said, tho i must say 1/2-most of the WL’s must be decided on already at this point.
@TheGuy1 I don’t know when they have the finalized list ready. Maybe they are finalizing the last couple that are on the fence, but, I would hope they put as much thought into their waitlist prospects. If a student denies admission, they want a highly qualified waitlist candidate to be able to step in. IMO, I believe they have their finalized list a few weeks before IVY Day and are finalizing waitlist candidates up to a few days before IVY day.
I know you didnt ask for me, but…
@popcorn454
- Its a glitch
or
- Sometimes they classified it as academic work which is supplementary. It depends on who is classifying this data from the other end. As long as its repped, its cool.
or
- They ticked both (Midyear and added under supp. materials) just for second measure (just to be sure to have the data in the file) on the app.
It means nothing otherwise.
@MTM542577 Alright makes sense. Thanks for chiming in.
Can international students (India/China) get into Harvard without an interview?
@StanfordOrBust19 Interviews are not mandatory for applicants. So you have the same chances of getting in as a domestic student with or without an interview, I mean, of course, you are at a disadvantage because the percentage of accepted international students is really less
@StanfordOrBust19 No IMO.
I assume you’re from India. People here have already gotten interviews mid to late Feb (check Reddit).
So they’re probably shortlisted. Without an interview, Harvard admissions, especially form India are impossible.
@whatsmypassword unless one is really good like those in the genuine scholar category who are accepted without a second thought.
@paradox15 Maybe, but afaik, no one has gotten in sans an interview.
Actually, even waitlisted applicants are interviewed.
Hey, y’all. Quick question: I realize admissions decisions are very close to coming out and nearly finalized, but over the weekend I was granted two very prestigious awards that I feel are significant enough to share with the AdCom. As many of you know, I was also granted an AO interview a few weeks back, so I don’t want to jeopardize the likelihood of the AdCom’s informed opinion of me thus far. One award was a State Finalist award in Debate, which was the first time anyone from my school or district earned such an award, and I was also awarded the most prestigious award for graduating seniors from the National Speech and Debate Association. Should I submit an update and also add a few sentences or so explaining why I felt it was significant enough to share, or should I abstain? Thanks.
It’s not too late if you haven’t gotten the L yet.
I would upload it to the portal ASAP. Then see if you wanna contact the AO.
Bit definitely upload it to the portal.
My daughter had an interview with Harvard alumni in December, but she hasn’t received any other information, so I was wondering if you have another interview at the school if they are considering you, or does it stop with the alumni interview that she had here in the bay area.
@jordanheston I would absolutely send info about your new honors. My daughter has updated her application twice with unexpected honors and awards. Good luck to all on the decision coming out in the next few days.
Anyone else’s App status portal have the wording 'If you wish to change your status from ‘not applying for financial aid’ to ‘applying for financial aid’, you will be able to do so through this portal after March 31.
Strange, since we had actually applied for financial aid.
@cc665544 Mine says that too. and I’d applied for financial aid as well, all the way back in November during EA (I was deferred)
Mine does. It’s probably something all applicants see on their portal
Ok, seems like a system wide error then. The from and to wording apparently got flipped.
Hey y’all, I saw someone earlier talking about this, but I wanted to talk a little more about it.
The very beginning of March, I was contacted by an admissions officer to have an interview. After my interview, the admin officer spoke with one of my teachers about me and contacted my guidance counselor to verify some academic stuff. What did this mean? Am I on the fence between accepted and waitlisted/ waitlisted and denied?
I know I will find out soon haha, but I am hoping to quell my nerves some or hear from students in similar positions, whether this year or in years’ past.
Best of luck to everyone!
@David5700044 Did the AO contact your teacher and counselor after the interview? Did he/she tell you they would be contacted? Thanks.
@David5700044
The status cant be told. It could be anything. They contacted further to get more data on ur personality as the data they had wasnt enough.
did anyone’s financial aid section in your portal disappear? mine did and im confused i wanted to check my FA status
