Hello Everyone. I have recently scheduled an interview with Harvard at the Harvard Club in New York City. And I have browsed through a few other posts which state the attire students have worn during their interviews. However, most of these interviews are held in bookstores, cafe's etc. But since my interview is in the Harvard Club of New York City, I was wondering how exactly should I dress? Is there a dress code or is business casual okay? Any input given would be greatly appreciated!

Bump. Anyone? Any answer will help :[

D attended an admitted student function at the Boston Harvard Club last April. What she wore was very similar to one of her college interview outfits - dress pants, heels, a cami or nice T with dressy cardigan (but not overly dressy) over and simple jewelry.

business casual. you cant go wrong. Unless you are actually sartorially sophisticated (which I’m assuming you’re not if you posted the question in the first place), wear an outfit you would wear to your grandparents’ 50th wedding anniversary.

If you’re a guy and are worried about a tie requirement, either A) just wear one, or B) bring one stashed in your pocket or back pack to use in case of emergency.

and good luck, you’ll be great!

For males, jacket and tie…and whatever the equivalent is for women. (Sorry, as a male, I’m not confident opining about female attire equivalents).

Your interviewers will most likely be dressed in business attire – suit and tie for men; for women: either a skirt/blouse/jacket combo, or a conservative, yet stylish, dress. Look at the photos from the NY Harvard Club and dress accordingly:

BTW I’m a guy. It seems like I’m getting mixed responses, so should I go for business casual or go for a suit?

Thank You for all your help guys…I’m going to go with the suit! It’s better to go overdressed than under dressed! Thanks again!

My son had his interview in Southern California in a very nice office building where the interviewer works as an attorney. He wore business casual clothes. Slacks, button down shirt (being in Cali it was short sleeve) and dress shoes.

Wear the suit and tie. The Harvard Club of NY is not a bookstore, it’s exactly as it sounds.
