Hey guys, just a rising senior that’s been mulling over colleges here. I’ve been considering applying to good ol’ Harvard early action. This, I thought, means I can’t apply to any school early action, since Harvard calls it “restrictive early action.” However, the school’s website says I can still apply to universities outside of the U.S. and also public universities. Does that mean I can apply to Harvard and UNC Chapel Hill early action together? Or did I just misunderstand the website? :-?
Thanks in advance!!
(PS: link where I found this: https://college.harvard.edu/admissions/apply/application-timeline/restrictive-early-action scroll down all the way to the last FAQ)
Yes. You can apply SCEA to Harvard, and apply to any STATE university early – that would include many top state colleges such as UNC Chapel Hill, College of William & Mary, University of Virginia, University of Michigan, UCLA, University of Texas, University of Maryland, University of Florida, etc. And you could also apply to Harvard SCEA and apply early to McGill or the University of Toronto (both in Canada) or the University of Cambridge (UK).
College of William & Mary has ED, not EA @gibby
^^ Thanks for the correction (I was just mentally going through a list of top state colleges).
@gibby thanks! Can I apply to Harvard, Chapel Hill, AND McGill EA? Or is there a limit?
@anxiouswreck There is no limit. They don’t care how many schools, they only prescribe which TYPES of schools you can apply to along with Harvard EA.
@anxiouswreck McGill does not have EA. But yes, you can apply to Harvard SCEA and as many international colleges and state schools as you want. However, for many applicants, applying for OOS publics is moot as they will not be affordable for them.
