harvard interview!! HELP!

today i got a notification for a harvard interview. i was wondering what this means considering its almost mid march, is it a good sign? or is it just routine?

also any helpful advice on the q's asked or how they are like is extremely appreciated!

thanks in advance!!

Well, I thought they stopped evaluation of applications on the 20th of March. Depending on when your interview is, they may or may not receive your interviewer’s report in time to review it.

My interview was pretty casual. The interviewer and I sat down over some tea in his office, and worked through my schedule, talking about what I loved to do, and what kind of opportunities awaited me at Harvard. It took about an hour and a half. I like interviews personally, but I wouldn’t worry too much about it; the alumni want to help you in your quest for admissions. They’re on your team.

What if the interviewer is not an alumnus but an admission officer? What difference would that make?

Hey man, are you an international by any chance? Cos I had one 2 days ago and I live in South Africa…

My DD had a very late interview and it was a very good sign: She is now a Junior at Harvard.

well my interview’s an alumni.

no i’m from illinois, but how was yours Idiosyncra3y?
and MSMDAD thats wonderful!! that makes me optimistic :)

if harvard called and asked your interviewer to interview you at this late date, it’s a good sign. if the interviewer just hasn’t gotten around to interviewing any applicants yet, it’s a neutral sign.

^Actually, it’s neither a good nor a bad sign if you’re contacted at this late date for an interview. I was assigned an interview this month only because the interviewer who was assigned originally never got in contact with the applicant. My local Harvard Club tries to interview every candidate.

“As a Harvard alumna, I have been asked to contact you regarding a Harvard interview” how would you interpret that?

i really hope Tres Elefantes is right!

I think an interview in general is a good sign. It will give you another opportunity to showcase your abilities :)

My interview was very formal - formal attire and located in the interviewer’s office building - and yet, very casual at the same time. He asked questions about my family, background, interests, why I’m interested in Harvard, etc. He was an extremely nice guy. He even asked what other schools I applied to, and then told me he had some friends who worked at admissions at these schools, and that he would be sure to give a good recommendation on my behalf. I think if you just be yourself, the interviewer will recognize you are genuine, and thus do everything in their power to help you. :)

Best of luck!

thank you 999999! more advice is needed!!! :)

Ok, imo yours is different to mine bacause you are not an international… It is a good thing though because you get a chance to showcase yourself far better in person than in other parts of the app. Just do your best and things should work out.

Whether it is a good sign depends on whether or not they have read your app yet. Mine said that they had already read it and had some questions. This (I think) was good for me because I passed the first round. if they haven’y already read it, then it is neutral…

No problem :)
