Harvard never wrote me back?

I emailed admissions on a major update to my file. I sent it to the main admissions office and I sent another message to my regional admissions officer on the update. I also uploaded this information to my portal. However, does Harvard never confirm that it received your email? I’m just assuming because I’m sure they must be inundated with documents.

I faxed the info today (after an entire month) just to see what would happen. Am I worried for no reason since I sent the update 3 times?

*All the other Ivy League schools except Harvard & Penn confirmed my update.

No one ever wrote me back. Did Harvard ever write you guys back confirming updates?

I’m going to go out on a limb here, but with 35,000 applications, if 25% of student’s were to send in an update, that would mean over 8,000 updates are being sent to the fileroom. Now, Harvard’s fileroom is staffed by ONE person and a host of student volunteers. So, if Admissions were to prioritize those applications by their interest in an applicant, and you haven’t receive an automated or personal response – what does that tell you about Harvard’s interest in your application? Sorry to be so blunt, but it seems to me the choices are: (1) Harvard is too busy right now to respond to your updates, or (2) Admissions has no immediate interest in your application at the present time.

@gibby Maybe that too. I just assume they can’t respond to everybody with so many apps

My son sent updates to Harvard and several other top schools and didn’t receive any confirmations, nor were we expecting any. I think the schools are usually just too busy to respond to anything that isn’t part of the required documentation. Don’t worry about it.

Same here. Son sent updates but did not receive email confirmations.

I’m just curious here – does it mean anything if someone has received an automatic reply to his/her email he/she sent to the office in order to let them know about the updates?

It means they (the work-study students and office clerks) received your update and had time to update the auto replies.

I would call the Admissions Office and ask a real human to check if the update has been received… though at this point it probably won’t matter.

I submitted an update Early Action and I received no response at all. I found out two weeks later that I was admitted.

Point is: I wouldn’t sweat it. It’s probably just that they have too many applications to look at. Good luck

I may be an exception, but I received a reply from my regional admission officer when I sent an update (approximately 3 days after I sent the update in). I sent it to the general undergrad email.

I sent an update to all my schools and received confirmations from all my other Ivies except Harvard. Maybe they just don’t do that/don’t do it much? Or maybe it’s a sign we’re not going to get in, in which case, congrats @ytr968 I guess!

Who really knows. I sent in a noteworthy update, the same one 3 times. I hope they got it.
