Do you see Admitted Student Link right next View Status Update ?
At this point, the most important aspect of the admission is whether you can travel and enroll in the fall after this whole Coronavirus pandemic especially there’s travel ban from certain countries right now.
thanks @mavian
Wouldn’t it be illogical for colleges to discriminate against people from Coronavirus stricken countries?
The ban will probably be revoked until the educational year starts.
Also, with the countries US colleges mostly admit from under the ban (China & UK included), not admitting people from banned countries would mean admitting little to no international students from a really small number of countries which would be against the college’s diversity purposes.
Identifying yourself as Asian doesn’t help you with admissions, it only hurts you.
It’s all about the “yield protection” they want to admit people who can for sure pay and enroll. I’m sure there will be international students they admit and hopefully you’re one of them. Everyone here says fewer international and a lot on the waitlist.
Thanks @binlee
I don’t hold a green card/ citizenship, so they won’t count me as Asian/ white anyway— just international.
Will that make the whole situation less detrimental?
@mavian
Even if the international students can’t enroll in the class of 2024 due to circumstances, can’t they defer their acceptance for one year? Would that still lower yield?
@HYPSM2024 Those private schools need full tuition paying students. Since they know they can’t count on those international student from China and other entry-banned (for how long… nobody knows) country, they have to fill the class with other domestic full-pay students and put A LOT of people on the waitlist. That’s the most important for people in admissions. They could lose their job for this.
@mavian
I see how our chances can be further reduced for need-sensitive ivies. However, as a need-blind school I don’t think the admission people at Harvard would even have complete access to our fin aid docs, so they won’t consider our ability to pay. (At least this is what they say)
@ohnoitsme I also have both wait list status and admitted students website, does that mean that we’ve been waitlisted?
I think everyone so far has had that so I doubt it
@collegeready33 Do you have “wait-list-decision”?
@binlee yes i do
@collegeready33 yeah seems everyone does. either it means nothing or harvard is waitlisting a LOT lol.
It’s not that hard to guess if someone wouldn’t need FA just by looking at the school and the home address, also ECs that cost a lot of money.
Unless being poor is something you have outrightly shown through your essays, I don’t think they can presume that! Honestly, I am from an are which has people who are unbelievably rich and yet I know people who are lower-middle class. I think that can be avoided easily!
Guys, where exactly does it lead you to if you click the link next to href="/apply/update"> ? Or, what is the link address that is there next to it? It should appear a line below href="/apply/update"> in view page source.
How do you even view page source once you are in the inspect element menu
You don’t have to use inspect element, actually. You can just press Ctrl+U.

That’s for “View page source”. Inspect element is Ctrl+Shift+I.
