Harvard RD Class of 2020 Applicant Thread

@kuriosmind lol at the tuba comment XD and @goldenmaster I don’t know if it is true but the girl just said working in undergraduate admissions they can apparently see where else you applied so who knows. just hoping to get accepted! Now to focus on scholarships XD [-O<

Hi guys. I applied to Harvard RD. I just had a question. I submitted a research paper to Harvard and I wanted to ask how it will be reviewed. My paper wasn’t published but it was sent to a science competition, yet it did not place. I have been doing that research for about a year and a half and am currently still working on it with a lot to continue to do. I submitted the paper just to reveal what work I was doing but I have heard that if the paper is not of the highest caliber, it will hurt my application. Is this true? My paper was very detailed, but it was still a little preliminary because there’s still a lot of work I need to complete, but again I just wanted give greater insight into my work. I heard that it will be compared to all the other kids submitting papers and if it isn’t of the highest caliber, the faculty reviewing the paper will report it as such and it will thus reflect negatively on my application. If this is true, what action should I take? Should I send in another document explaining myself or should I ask to retract the report?

To those of you who submitted a TOEFL iBT (official score report), does it appear on your Application Checklist?

Harvard processed my application really quickly. I submitted last night, and I was able to check the status when I woke up in the morning. Was it this fast for anyone else?

Yeah…they sent me my portal information 9 hours after I submitted. @whizkid98

Same @XoXdreamerXoX @whizkid98 mine was processed after 10 hours. I received the info at 10 this morning. Do you guys know if all the ivies/universities have portals? Because I’ve only gotten the info for Harvard and Dartmouth so far.

@QueenN22 is it okay if i PM you to ask a question? :slight_smile:

HYP and Penn have portals @kuriosmind
That’s all I know

How do I make an update to my application?

@anotherdude if it’s personal information and other stuff you have to call them.

@BlackHuntress It’s about an international competition that I took part in few months back. The results came out a few days back, and I feel that it would somewhat add to my app. Should I still call them?

@kuriosmind I think all of them do have portals, but Harvard’s seems much faster than the rest.

@whizkid98 That makes sense. I guess that huge Harvard endowment really makes a difference :wink:

@epoque sure

@anotherdude Of course! If you think it does add to your application go ahead! :slight_smile: as long as you don’t think it can harm you. For instance, although i haven’t done any significant research etc. I do draw for competitions and have won on a state level for my art so I submitted a few of my pieces! I think anything that makes you seen unique or stand out is worth a go. :smiley:

Yes the application processed very quickly! I don’t know about anyone, but I just feel so happy. I expected myself to feel a sense of great doom as I hit the submit button, but I felt great relief. The nerves are gone and the weight has been lifted off of my shoulders. Come on guys, we have all made it this far!

@YesPolyglotGal I totally agree! :slight_smile: Good luck to you.

@YesPolyglotGal and @pnguon

Amen to that. It was like a great weight being lifted off of my shoulders. Good luck to everyone.

Now I get to live with this feeling of slight unease for the next four months :smiley:

It’s 3 months, actually.
