Harvard RD Class of 2020 Applicant Thread

@Honeyraven Your teachers didn’t want to upload it through the Common App?

@Chrysanthemum14
Nope. One of them is older and prefers to do things the old-fashioned way (i.e., not over the internet) and the other one speaks English as a second language, so it was easier just to send it in the mail rather than to try to figure out the common app website.

@Honeyraven, I sympathize, my daughter had several older recommenders who struggled with the Common App format (actually, also with any form that was online.) My daughter’s letters seemed to make it in though. I’m sorry your situation is getting complicated.

Any UK applicants here? :slight_smile:

Anyone else been contacted for an interview? I’m really nervous even though my Princeton and Brown ones went pretty well

@LucasKovacs Me! Good luck!

Still waiting for an interview here in southeast Michigan…

Still waiting for an interview in Random Small Suburb, Texas. I’m slightly less worried now that I know no one in my school has been contacted yet.

Did everyone here submit their SAT subject test scores? Is it bad to not submit them?

@freshlemon123 It’s not bad to not submit them. Harvard no longer requires them. Only submit them if you believe that you NEED to. You won’t be penalized for not having them unless you were applying to MIT.

S just got called for an interview. We’re in FL. The interview is taking place this W. He was instructed to bring along his common app and Harvard’s supplemental essay.

@PWANG96 I haven’t received an interview either, but I think that interviews are offered by region. Even if you don’t get interviewed, it won’t hurt your application in any way. The interview is more of a way for you to get to know about the school.

Oh lord. I live in NJ. Is it a bad thing if I did not get an interview yet?

@YesPolyglotGal No. Interviews are assigned randomly to volunteer alumni interviewers. Maybe you’re alum is really busy or your name is at the bottom of the list. If you don’t receive an interview by early March (past the interview report submission deadline), the admissions office might arrange one for you if they are considering your application. You might also be a clear admit, so definitely don’t worry because it’s out of your control now.

When I logged onto check my application status, I noticed that not only are my recommendations missing, but that my midyear report is also listed as not yet received. However, at the top of the application status page, it says that midyear transcripts are expected between January 15-Feb 15th. My counselor hasn’t filed my midyear report for Harvard yet. He’s going to do it the first week of February. Am I correct in thinking this is okay? Or is the midyear report also required by the 22nd (the day by which I was told to fax in my missing materials)?

My first semester hasn’t even ended yet @Honeyraven and thus my midyear report has not been sent

@Honeyraven Yes. You’ll be fine.

@TheWaffleMan149 @kuriosmind
Thank you. I appreciate the quick answers/advice.

Hey guys! I’m an international applicant and I will be taking TOEFL on 1/30. The TOEFL scores usually come out after 10 days, so by the time when Harvard gets my score, it will be around 2/15 ~ 2/20. Is this day too late for them to check my score? Is it too late to report my score by that time?! Please give me some suggestions :slight_smile:

@freshlemon Ivies go to committee (40 admissions officers & faculty sit in a room and vote on the applicants) in the beginning of March, so it will arrive in time for it to be considered. However, I don’t know if your regional admissions officer has already ruled you out, as not all applications get brought to committee. TOEFL scores are also not that important. It just shows your english level. I think your SAT/ACT scores are more important. Good luck!
