@eugeinc Congratulations! Glad to hear that a fellow international applicant made it in! All the best for your future, and don’t worry, if your interviewer has confirmed it, then you have probably got in.
Given the fact that I didn’t receive an interview call, I do not think my hopes for Harvard are high, but given the couple of other Ivies that I have applied to, if we don’t meet as teammates, there is still enough hope that we can meet as rivals.
Congrats @eugenics ! I’m just gonna chime in here with my interview experience:
-Harvard: It went pretty well I guess? (I don’t want to expect too much). We talked about my education back home, what was it like, then we talked about my writing activities for I am an editor and writer for several newspaper at school and back at home. Finally, we talk about my plans for the future. It seems that she, the interviewer, was impressed for she said that I know a lot about my field even before entering college and it would be great that my addition to the school will bring more diversity of thoughts. I even know things going on in the school that she didn’t know. It didn’t hurt to have my Principal coming and told her that I am one of the best students the school ever had. Overall, I thought it went alright.
-Dartmouth: My interviewer was an arts major so I was afraid that I couldn’t really connect to her. It, again, went well, we talked about my ECs, and what I hoped to achieve at Dartmouth. We also talked about my future career and she threw me a curve ball question about what would I do if I have $1M. That was something I didn’t expect or prepare for but I managed to turn around and answered it pretty well. I asked her about her usage of the D-Plan and the Greek Life at Dartmouth.
@blazedragon Thank you so much! I’d be happy if you got into any Ivy, but please, NO YALE Just kidding, I am waiting for my Yale decision too!
MODERATOR’S NOTE:
Guys, I tend to allow a bit of leeway on these threads, especially in the last couple of weeks leading up to decisions. However, this is not a stream of conscious thread and under no circumstances are political discussions allowed.
@eugeinc Congrats!!!
@eugeinc I actually haven’t even applied to Yale I only applied to 5 of the 8 ivies; places where I felt the environment and teaching were right for my intended major But anyway, I wish you luck for your Yale RD decision too!
@eugeinc It must be so amazing to get a early notification of your acceptance to Harvard!! Must be such a stress reliever to not have to worry anymore. Here’s to praying I’ll see that acceptance email on the 31st
@eugeinc Congratulations on your Harvard acceptance! I wish you the very best for your next four years, and hopefully all of us will be able to join you on campus! Unless, of course, you go to Yale… maybe they’ll be nice enough to give you your decision early as well…
Congratulations to everyone accepted and good luck to everyone still waiting for decisions! But have any international students been accepted/ received likely letters with only an alumni interview?
Don’t only athletes receive likely letters?
@cheerleader16 No about 1/3 or more of likely letter recipients are not athletes. They are just too exceptional in the eye of the adcoms that they have to let the applicant know of their impending acceptance.
@harvard2020babe What percent of total admits are admitted by likely letter? Thank you
@cheerleader16 I would say about 10% more or less.
Because it ranges between 200-300 likely letters for every class.
Congrat @eugeinc! Do you mind if I ask which country you are from? Also an international here
Hey everyone, I just received my likely letter in the mail yesterday so I’m beyond excited!! Not sure why they chose me to receive one because I’m not a chid prodigy or amazing scholar or anything so who knows haha. Good luck to everyone waiting until D-Day!
Does anyone know what percent of deferred students get admitted please. Thank you. I applied ea and was deferred I like drake music.
@dmichael congrats!!!
@Coco345 Fellow deferee here. I think the acceptance rate is about the same for RD applicants as deferred SCEA applicants.
