@dreams2big4scores2low - Are you international? If not, then interviews are done strictly based off of availability and don’t affect admissions decisions. Good luck!!
@dreams2big4scores2low If you are a domestic applicant, an interview only means that your area had enough alumni interviewers to offer one to you; however, if you are international, Harvard sometimes allocates its scarce interviews to “pre-screened” applicants.
Since I got into Northwestern, I think my chances of getting into Harvard have gone from 0.00000001% to 0.000001%! So excited for Ivy day!
Am a new user on CC! Hi everyone…
Has any Defered applicant received a likely letter from H? Is it possible that only RD applicants are getting likely letters.?
Am asking because I applied early, was Defered, then granted an interview after being Defered(I know that it doesn’t mean I stand any chance tbh)
Am an international applicant by the way.
@Kenyankid International deferred applicant here too
Does it mean a thing if one gets an interview after being Defered.? Bearing in mind that I had not gotten one before getting Defered?
@Kenyankid Could mean a great thing!! Probably means they’re interested in you and want to learn more.
^That’s a good sign!!
@asiankid88 Don’t think so, because H contacted two Rd applicants from my region informing them of their forthcoming acceptances… I was not contacted… . Maybe it’s over for me. lol.
“Likely letters” or calls/messages regarding a high probability of admission are not allowed after March 15, per Ivy League agreement. So do not worry if you’re not getting anything - they’re not allowed to contact you anymore, at least until 5pm on March 31.
@Kenyankid Most of the students that Harvard accepts do not receive calls about their acceptance prior to the decision release date, so I wouldn’t look too much into it.
Does not having an interview/a call for interview mean that the chances of being accepted are low?
@Armenian26 Nope, they say that not having an interview does not affect your application negatively.
I am an international applicant, and Ivies prefer to find alumni who are willing to take interviews from the same country as that of an international applicant (it being me in my case ), and they couldn’t find anyone who would be interested. So I didn’t have an interview, although UPenn and Pton did take interviews.
Hey!
New to CC. Well kind of. I’ve been on these threads for months but never made an account to post. After a rejection from JHU, I kind of lost hope but we’ll see!
Just to reiterate what others said, don’t worry about not getting an interview. They literally say that if you’re not offered one, it has no impact on your application! I’m international, but well Toronto, so they’d obviously have some alumni in the area. Got an interview from Harvard and Stanford (only ones I applied to besides JHU) back in January-ish.
@blazedragon yes, the same with me. I am an international applicant too, and there is no one in my country to hold interviews. I just read in this thread that someone said that he/she has not high chances of getting in as he/she wasn’t asked for any interviews by Harvard. This weeks go really slowly Good luck with your decisions!
Alrighty thanks guys! Dang I kinda hoped it did mean something so that I could at least have a tiny chance of getting accepted. Anywho my rejection just can’t come fast enough :^)
Oh my gosh I’m so sorry i typed that weird face! Hi guys!!! I just joined CC although I’ve been reading threads on here for quite a while now. I like the interactiveness of this whole website, I think it is awesome! I just found this thread a couple of weeks ago, and just now made an account and finally joined it! I’m excited that I now have people that undertand the anxiousness of applying to Harvard, as I am the only one at my high school who did so. I can’t wait for decisions to come out, although I am super nervious! How are y’all feeling?
@strongswimmer15 I know the feeling! It can be stressful but I feel like CC is a good resource to commiserate. Two other people that I know of applied to Harvard, one of them was deferred and the other RD.
@strongswimmer15 : Well, I could say the general consensus is that people are pretty nervous and anxious for the decision. All we can do is wait, nothing else.
