@Lovelearning7 I agree with what @VaishS said, but idk you could also try calling them. When I called, just a few days ago, AOs were still in committee and they didn’t take calls, but they had other non-AO people covering for them, so you wouldn’t exactly be bugging Admissions Officers.
Oh my freaking god I just got into Yale NUS guys!! And with a 47,000 dollar/ year scholarship!
How many of you am I going to see on April 15th in Singapore? <:-P
I know decisions come out March 31st. But when do you guys think they actually finish making decisions? It can’t be the same day they actually release it right?
They probably finish it up 2 or 3 days before the decision date. Gibby actually has a post somewhere saying that March 29th and 30th are for financial aid meetings and the decisions are supposed to be done before that.
I’d imagine that they’ll be done making decisions by the end of this week, then work all next week to make sure everything is squared away and ready to be released.
@cocoabutter16 - It can be. This year, MIT finished around 3.00 the day they were slated to release decisions at 6.28.
“Over here in admissions, we are still finalizing decisions. We hope to finish by 3:14PM today…”
That’s crazy. Although that post was awesome.
At least they managed to narrow down the amount of applicants. Of course, I would assume that the last-by-the-minute decisions are for very few applicants who get second looks or something.
Thanks guys that’s a tad reassuring. Good luck to everyone!
And to think, I thought three weeks ago was too late to send in an application update…
I’d think it’s late already since it was preferable to send it by the end of Feb.
Yeah, I was just kidding. I didn’t end up sending anything. It was just a few state awards, etc. nbd
It is a shame though because I am also working on a paper that’s gonna be published in a really well-known journal but it won’t make it in time.
Are the ivies releasing their decision all at the same time or will they stagger the release?
@WvsE2020 I think they should all be around the same time.
All around 5pm
I sent my update in mid January just to be safe haha
I am watching Legally Blonde in the mean time haha
Quite a few hours since anyone has posted anything here. I know, in the USA it’s really early right now, but I am still lurking around, hoping for some international applicant like me, to come around and say something. (Don’t judge me, I am stressed and distressed and whatever else that sounds bad and rhymes with those two ) But anyway, considering that no one is around right now, I very well might be able to ramble a bit because this has been a hell of a ride, although I don’t know how it’s going to end, I know I will remember it for the rest of my life. I know I will be in tears by the time it’s April, but hopefully, they’ll be tears of happiness.
Anyway, story time! It all started with me deciding that to study astrophysics, I NEEDED to go to the United States. After some research, I realised I needed to give the SAT exam, to apply to colleges there. Got the May date for SAT 1 and the June one for SAT 2. (Didn’t risk giving in October, wanted to get it done at the earliest, while my mom gave me “I told you to give this test earlier” looks).
At that time, feelings were like —> cue Pokémon theme music “I wanna be the very best, like no one ever was!”
SAT scores come in —> Awkwardly looks down at feet and continues whispering the Pokémon song
Deferred by Harvard —> cries and then prepares for RD, promising to make Harvard regret it’s decision of deferring me
Submits RD apps —> realisation dawns that Harvard is too amazing for me, still hopes for the best.
Rejected by Caltech, MIT, and waitlisted by UChicago —> …
Umm… Can somebody please accept me? goes into crazy stressed mode, not knowing what to do, and decides to go on CC and begin with, “Quite a few hours…”
completes pointless rant
Apologies to those who had to read this!
@blazedragon I feel totally the same. I wanted to study EE and Astrophysics together, and I needed to choose a secure place for the rest of my life. I found the US totally awesome. My first choice has been stanford since first moments but harvard is like a dream, and I just got rejected from MIT and waitlisted by Uchicago. With a huge amount of stress, I’m just waiting to see what will happen. Anyway, good luck everyone!
