Harvard SCEA Class of 2020 Applicant Thread

@schroscat the acceptance letter is found in the portal. you could request to have one mailed.

@MAS9797 well if I get admitted, I sure DO request one

@gracie21 there is no need to freak out. Very few applicants that are still accepted receive this likely letter.

Lol our thread is so tiny. Penn ED has 120 pages!!! How are you guys spending your time waiting for the notifs?!

@nsliyromanov Netflix, Hulu, and many, many tears. You?

I swear, last year this thread was super active and wasn’t just people saying “hey I need help on my application”

Was there an option you could check for a mailed notification rather than digital? Do people opt for a letter rather than a portal notification?

Has everyone received an interview here?

I have.

I’m curious about the interview process… I know that everyone is supposed to get an interview unless there’s not any available in your area, but would they ever not give someone an interview if they have a very low chance of getting in? Or do they maybe prioritize interviewees so that the most likely candidates get an interview?

I’ve been passing the time with Netflix and sad, longing glances at my portal lol. Jk but lots of Netflix and SAT studying

@EarlyAction2020 I live in an interview limited country and no i havent received an interview yet… :frowning:
Several people applied from our school but no one has. I emailed the Adcom twice and both times they said that the interview isn’t a required part of the application and that the absence of it won’t be a disadvantage, so i’m just hoping that what they say is true

@RandomRhino @tuty143 seriously it’s practically dead!! And it’s okay I go on my portal sometimes… Lol anyway come on people you’re all so brilliant lets get enthused!! If not for some form of communication from Harvard, or being cool enough to apply to Harvard, then excited for high school’s conclusion (thank god). Hope everyone had a happy thanksgiving!

@tuty143 OMG this! Sad, longing glances at my portal actually describes what I do every couple days. May I ask why you’re studying for the SAT when you’ve already submitted scores to Harvard for SCEA (I assume)?

Also thought I’d pose this general question to everyone—if we get lucky and get accepted to Harvard (knocking on wood so hard right now), will you withdraw your applications to other colleges? I’m 100% positive that, if I have the honor of getting accepted to Harvard, I’m going. But it kind of feels like a waste of time and money for all the other applications I’ve been working on and submitting if I just decide to withdraw them without getting an admissions decision back. Does that make sense?

^^been thinking about that lately. I would probably wait until April just because I really like some of the other schools, and those applications took a ton of time!

I guess it’d also probably be important to see my official financial aid package before accepting an offer (whether from Harvard or elsewhere), especially because of how expensive the sticker price is lol.

@RandomRhino I don’t think I would necessarily withdraw my applications, but if I had any that I hadn’t finished yet… yeah… my time would probably be better spent with Netflix, friends, and popcorn. :stuck_out_tongue:

@RandomRhino I actually submitted my act score and then took my sat but didn’t get the score I wanted. So now I’m taking the sat for my other schools hoping to up my score

As for if I would withdraw my other apps, I wouldn’t. I really like Harvard (obviously due to it being my first choice thus the EA haha) but I think every school has its strengths and drawbacks that I would have to weigh after I’ve received all my acceptances, and mostly rejections lol.

Here’s a question to you all, since a common goal is to revive the thread.

What do you think your personal chances of getting accepted are and why?

Just for kicks

I’m currently killing time by prepping for this programming competition I have next week, and making a social media app…

And I’m personally thinking rejection-defer… Mostly because of low ACT… 30.

Also what’s everyone planning on concentrating as? Computer science over here!

Personally thinking rejection, because i have no confidence in myself and think I am not as impressive as my parents insist I am (isn’t that a problem we all have tho hahah)

I’m planning on concentrating in Biology, typical I know, but I love it

@tuty143 Lmao that’s very true.
@tuty143 Bio is a typical concentration at harvard?

Anybody here watch Silicon Valley by any chance??
