Ohhhh okay thanks for the clarification!
They mentioned that they are going into committee this week, if that helps at all.
Oh and I guess if they emailed some guidance counselors saying they needed their verification by Thursday I’m guessing that means they’re going into committee on Friday!
@Regurge01 Thank you for the internet hug! Stress gets high at these times but thanks for bringing us all back to reality haha. How are you enjoying your gap year?
Wait but we had two people call the admissions office and confirm that decisions will be released on the tenth…and statistically speaking, the 10th makes sense
@magic125 yeah when I called the office they said they were aiming for December 10th. It could change depending on number of applicants though. I’m going to call tomorrow and find out, maybe since it’s closer to the release date I can at least find out when the official date will be released
@flautamagica Will you also ask about the requested grades? It is quite possibly giving me an ulcer even though I know overthinking it does absolutely nothing
Oh! On the admissions portal, does everyone have a red “X” next to Mid Year Report? Or did they just change this because they requested mine? Can’t remember what it looked like before
@pubkid hahaha I’ll make sure to ask them about that as well!
@pubkid Yes, the x is there for me.
@pubkid I have and have had a red x next to my mid year report as well
Okay okay! Also just realized I don’t have a check next to my SAT Subject Tests… and I submitted them in mid-October. Ugh.
Anyone know how they evaluate supplementary materials like music portfolios/how those help our application?
@pubkid could be that they have them but they didn’t put them into the portal or something. You should call them to ask about that
@pubkid i also have a red X because my first semester doesn’t end for another three weeks. My school only sends out mid year reports in january
Wait… so is it a bad sign that my counselor hasn’t been contacted by Harvard’s people??
@flautamagica Would an email suffice or do they not reply to those?
@flautamagica They send the supplements over to the respective department–music department for us–and someone (I believe a professor) will evaluate them. I’m assuming they’ll evaluate it to see if it’s a professional-grade supplement; perhaps they’ll send a recommendation if they like it.
@RandomRhino basically think about it like this:
If they asked for quarter 1 grades, it can be for any of these reasons (or more):
- Junior year was bad and they need to see if you have improved.
- You listed a very challenging senior year course load and they just wanted to verify that you can handle it.
If they didn’t ask, it could be because:
- You already submitted them (haha that’s what I did)
- They don’t need to see them to make their decision (good or bad)
- They haven’t gotten to your application yet
- Your school is not on a quarter system. (@RandomRhino :P)
@snackpack02 We actually don’t have quarter grades since we’re on a semester system! So maybe they just can’t have them even if they ask? LOL
