Harvard SSP

how would you compare it to something like GYLC

forgive my ignorance, but what does that mean?

its the global youth leadership conference in washington

oh, haha, i remember being told to do that...but i never did, so i couldn't tell you about how hard it is comparatively...perhaps someone else on here could?

i wanted to do the global youth leadership thing, but didn't... is it fun?

I'll be taking American Foreign Policy and Intro. to Philosophy. Any advise and is anyone else taking one of those?

sweet I'm taking intro to philosophy too

and intro to psychology

im taking intro to biology so is that like taking AP Bio or no? colleges will accept the intro to biology right...

I love tennis! Although, admittedly, I'm pretty bad....

Er, and that was in reply to tennis's earlier post

Intro to philosophy sucks according to a previous SSPer. I'd do two political science courses if you are into that. I would do something like American Foreign Policy but I think I'll just do principles of economics as I am pretty interested in economics.

add me if u have myspace lol..this is my link

nope... no myspace...

I used to have one though. I kind of miss it.

I do have an lj though... I wonder if anyone else has one

I do have to say that nickelback is one of my fav bands though... and that is one of my fav songs...

hey questionboy where you at the open house? I think I was sitting in the same row or infront of you.

several of my friends took Philosophy, and i'm afraid every single one of them had various complaints. They loved the general concept of the class, but each one complained about the size (it's an enormous class...in an auditorium, etc.), and that because of the size, it was hard to move forward because there was always someone or another who found a particular concept so confusing that they'd spend the rest of the class making the teacher explain it out...so it could be rather boring.

As to the Bio, if you're talking about the 8-unit Bio, then yeah, that's actually better than taking AP Bio. AP Bio requires a 5 for any significant credit, and if you major in that area, most top-tier schools won't even give you the credit, only advanced standing...this course will give you the 8 units of credit, since it's actually a college course, rather than a rough equivalent that the AP exam tries to produce.

god i hate big classes.maybe ill look into a different class but im pretty set on some sort of philosophy course. ill probably be the one asking questions, lol. I want to take it to try stop freaking out about existence and such. I dont know if that make sense...lets just say that ive been known to religion hop and have repeated crisiss of faith.

well, crises of religion aren't at all a bad thing at our age, they're ridiculously common, so don't sweat that. However, consider the fact that an intro philosophy course probably won't really do much to solve your religious questions, beyond a very thin examination of whether a higher power might or might not exist...sometimes philosophy can be pretty infuriating there in that it refuses to actually take a stance on an issue, so you might actually come out angrier and more confused, though better educated. Just be warned, haha

thanks for your help, ill try my best not to become jaded and cynical or whatever .lol im way too much of a hopeless romantic for that (but shhhh dont tell;))

aaaa..ya i was at the open house..i really cant wait for this sumer...i mean somedays im like aww im giving up a whole summer, and others im like ya this is gonna b so much fun...i really hope im not dissappointed
