Harvard SSP

thanx ... i think i will go to harvard. sounds so exciting and they have REALLY good restaurants in boston. ... which is another of my concerns, how's the food at annenburg hall?? vile or very yummy??

i have read mixed opinion on that, what courses are u planning to take?

i herd the food is really bad, heh

to the people whove been there, are there a lot of vegitarian options? also, i guess you can say im one of them arty types. i dont want to torture my roommates with the smell of oil paints and all that jazz. does harvard have open studio time?

also i want to take that optional readind thing. but because of my schedual i dont think i can make it to all of the classes. advice?

sorry for asking so many question...

wow… 20 books for 2 classes? Is that normal? seems a little crazy to me but hey, its harvard…

any body of u got the sallybi

so how bout u all go to my myspace page so i can add u as friends...that way i might know some people before i get there

http://www.myspace.com/23875248

yeah, no, 20 books certainly wasn't even remotely normal. One of my courses was in game theory, which has no real official textbook, so we were examining several works in several aspects of economic game theory. The other was an english seminar (utopia and anti-utopia), so it obviously involved reading quite a few books. The number was actually above 20, but I can't remember it exactly.

And nycGreenBanana, I'm not sure how much experience you have with college dining halls, but by that rating, having eaten at more than 10 different schoos for various reasons, Annenberg is certainly above average. It's not gourmet cuisine by any stretch of the imagination, and you're obviously gonna miss mom's cooking, but it certainly isn't as torturous as many schools you guys will apply to next year. The staff actually will listen to your suggestions, there's a full salad bar, they serve tofu at every lunch & dinner (I know this coz my roommate was a nutrition-freak, and insisted on tofu at every single one of those meals). There is a line for ordering food as you like it (sandwiches, burgers, omelettes, etc.) for the picky as well. There's decent variation...it does get repetitive, but you know, you're there for 8 weeks, that's inevitable. Overall, you're def not going to harvard for the food, but it'll keep you going, don't be too scared of that. There aren't an excessive number of vegetarian options, but there's always pasta and soup available, as well as various dishes beyond that, day-to-day (and of course the salad bar).

As to Stanford v. Harvard, look at the courses as well, decide what you wanna do. If you were seriously gonna take 12 units @ stanford, note that that is a ridiculous amount of work to do in a summer, especially taking reasonable classes. 8 units was no cakewalk @ harvard. Harvard (if you're an incoming senior, not junior) doesn't really have a curfew, I had to call and tell my proctor (RA) if i was gonna be out past 3am, but she was really chill. Boston's great, NYC's right belwo, and cambridge itself has plenty to do. I know nothing about SanFran, but a change in atmosphere from home is a nice experience, and it'll let you know if the "East Coast school" mentality works for you, as opposed to Stanford's somewhat chilled attitude.

What are some good Session I 4-units to take?
The Politics of Love and Friendship is already full.
Between Islamic Cities and Architecture, Nationalism in Latin America, and Psychological Trauma, which is the most... enjoyable? difficult? worthwhile?

If anybody has taken one of those abovementioned courses, I'd love to hear some information about it! Admittedly, they aren't my first choices.. but I decided to go for 4 weeks instead of 8 so I'm willing to take what's given.

if u wanna run a bunch of milage over the summer with me 10+ miles a day then email me or IM me my sn is questionboy89

or if you have a myspace ask me to be ur friend http://www.myspace.com/23875248

i have no idea mimienthused...unless someone else has some experience with any of those courses, I'd just say go with what sounds best specifically for you. The massive course offerings are geared specifically towards you finding your own niche, so gut feeling's always nice

they have nice law courses in short session 2.........that is if you are willing to go in july
