harvard summer classes?

please note that i am NOT talking about the harvard SSP, because it is WAY too much money and from what i've heard its kind of a joke. $10k for 8 credits? riiiiight... (unless someone is willing to change my mind on this? if i saved up my money until then i could probably pay for a good amount of it but still)

are HS students allowed to take these classes?
Courses – Harvard Summer School 2010 – Boston/Cambridge
or are we pigeonholed into taking ONLY the harvard ssp? getting there is easy because i live about 30 min from boston

bump 10char

My daughter was accepted to Harvard SSP. Yes, it’s 9800 for 8 credits, but that works out to 1223 a credit, whereas a year’s tuition, room & board at Harvard (45,552) works out to 1898 a credit (for 24 credits). Therefore, the summer program is cheaper. I don’t think it’s a joke because they take the same classes as current Harvard students who registered for the summer semester. Besides, I think SSP this summer is going to give her an advantage when she applies to Harvard in 2011. By the way, I’m a working single parent who is anxiously awaiting the financial aid decision, but if I have to, I’ll borrow the money.

A few questions:

1) Does enrolling give a person an advantage to applying to Harvard
2) Unless one is paying full cost for Harvard, this summer program is not as “cheap” as Harvard. Most students take at least 30 credits per year.
3) Is this college credit transferrable to other institutions?
