Harvard Transfer Admits

I think it's about nine (fall & spring), although I don't know how many are going.

ahh, that makes sense, p44.

did you receive your package yet from your mom? it's a pretty thick envelope; however, i don't think the official housing selection/questionaire forms have come yet..i mailed my reply yesterday.

mine had a housing selection/questionaire on it. has anyone else read through the whole packet? the people who wrote it are pretty clever. they throw in some semi-sarcastic and funny answers to some of the frequently asked questions, and on the roomate form thing, instead of "messy" they say "creative disorder." I like that.
Are you guys buying Harvard stuff? (t-shirts, hats, etc) I want to, and I think I will anyway, but that could potentially be awkward in my semester at Wash U. And other spring admits, you know what sucks? We don't get our emails til late fall, which means I will still have a Vermont facebook, or perhaps a WashU facebook (I don't know which is worse...) for the fall. And for you fall admits, the orietation leaders said they are going to try and take you to a Red Sox game! Meh!
I'm a personal assistant this summer, which means I spend a lot of time making a lot of random conversations with tailors, developers, caterers, salespeople, etc, and I've already noticed their reaction when they ask where I'm going to school and I say Harvard. This is awful.... but it's pretty fabulous.

i haven't!!! i'm going crazy! nothing about housing? hmm...maybe they wait until people reply? i hope there are a lot of availabilities!

is the housing form just a questionaire? or does it list a housing website where you can see available rooms? penn's did, you could see the dimensions and the whole deal.

i take back what i said about housing, for shaganov is right! Sooo many forms and packets...i still have yet to go through everything.

p44: when i visited h. last weekend, they said that transfers aren't really given any opportunity to choose a particular house...and that neither is the rest of the college. they don't want students to choose houses because they try to create as much diversity in each house as possible to avoid having a "jock house," "artsy house," "preppy house," etc.

my tour guide was in a suite of five guys his junior year, two of whom were junior transfers...he said they really try to spread the transfers out and squeeze them in wherever they can...he said that they assign housing to transfers in groups of 4-10--in other words, if there's one suite with transfers, there'll probably be a suite down the hall with a few more.

oh i want mine!

I just went to Winthrop's website (I want it sooo bad) and I think each individual house has pictures. I sort of just got it looking at those photos.... I'm going to Harvard. Will that ever sink in? I don't know why it's so hard for it to sink it, but it won't. I'm afraid I'm going to get it at a really inopportune time, like a business meeting or interview or church and just sort of start shrieking or something.
I want to go back to Boston to visit! Unfortunately, that is no day trip from St. Louis. I think I'm going to ask the fam to wait and take a later bus out to Hyannisport from Boston so we can all go visit Harvard together. My father has never been to Harvard or even Boston, and I can't wait to show it to him!

for shaganov! you're going to hyannisport this summer?? wow, you really are a kennedy!

bnx86, are you transferring in as a junior or a soph? where do you go to school now again? (sorry if i have already asked you this, i can't keep track of all these posts!)

is there some other place than CC where we can make a group of Harvard transfers? And we only stay in night in Hyannisport before going to Nantucket, and I have yet to see a Kennedy, however, I'm banking on all of that changing soon...

i guess on blogspot.com, i don't think it's hard to set them up on that site.

Hey admits:

Congrats! I'm just packing up after my first year here, and it's been awesome. You guys have a ton to look forward to. The people here are really down-to-earth, so just bring the real you. We're excited to have you, and we'll probably meet up during orientation in the fall/spring. Please feel free to PM me with any questions.

Congrats again,
T101

Oh yeah, and about the housing situation:

They will ask you to write a brief statement on "what you are looking for in a house." Unless you want to get Quaded, you should say "I would like to be by the Charles." You can also note that high-rises, like Mather, scare the hell out of you. Because they do the rest of us. Hopefully, you end up in Dunster, Lowell, Eliot, Kirkland, or Adams, but if you don't you can always transfer houses...a lot my friends transferred from the Quad to the River.

what should you say to get into winthrop? thanks for the congradulations, I'm so excited!

I started a yahoo group for harvard transfers... PM with your e-mail address if you want to join.

have people attempted to activate their email accounts yet? i tried to activate mine, successfully created a PIN...but my email doesn't work yet. :(

how do you create a pin/have you sent in your deposit yet? i think i don't get mine until later in the fall, which is a huge bummer, i want harvard facebook!

Dean Fox said that Spring transfers have a confirmation mailing from Admissions in November, so I doubt we get an E-mail addess, etc., till after that (which is when she gets the names of the accepted students).

NOVEMBER?! MEHHH!!! I was just looking at some of the stuff from the Institute of Politics and my Harvard app and the viewbook (yes, I obviously already have too much time on my hands-- what am I going to do for another SEVEN MONTHS here?) and I want to go do it all now! September would be hard enough to wait for!
