Harvard Transfer Admits

So if I may ask the question all of us jealous future transfers are wondering, how'd you do it? Was it the GPA, the recs, the ECs, the essays, or just luck? Thanks.

I can tell you how not to do it - do not screw up your interview... That's what screwed me...

how do you know ur interview screwed u atanas?

and if u've gotten ur waitlist letter from harvard, weren't u completely shocked to get it in a big envelop?! for five complete seconds, I thot the ad com changed their mind and let me in! Oh the shock of my life~! It was a nice five seconds of euphoria tho- hehe!

I just have this feeling.

have u by any chance found out how many candidates are typically waitlisted? and fear not, u might not have screwed up your interview and might still stand a good chance- I just think competition was really stiff that's all~

I haven't called them to ask for the exact number, I might do this some day this week though. I really think our chances are slim, but I will still stay on the list. I am thinking of asking an additional recommendation from my employer, with whom I have been doing research this last quarter, but I don't think anything can help...

don't be negative atanas- a handful get in every year- it could be me, or you or whoever...as long as ther's a chance I am certain anything will help- (haha! I fascinate myself- such optimism for a less than 1% possibilty- ridiculous~!)

no, but seriously~

sry, again, have u gotten ur waitlist letter and weren't u completely surprised to see it come in a large envelope?
the meanies!

Haven't gotten it yet (IL).

expect it tomorrow then- I'm in Bloomington IL

gud luck!

Good luck to you too!

For any H Spring Admits:

What are you planning on doing Fall semester? I don't think I want to return to NYU, knowing that I'll be leaving soon after... I'm thinking of just taking the semester off and catching up through summer classes and/or 5 classes for a semester or two during Junior year.

I e-mailed Dean Julia Fox, who said that switching to fall is not possible, although I'm going to ask again... and maybe for a good reason, like someone earlier in this thread had.

bumpity: i visited harvard over the weekend--went to an info session, went on a tour...and the admissions officer leading the info session seemed to imply that they waitlisted a great deal of transfer applicants this year.

augie,

I emptied my PM box, so try me again. I'm going to give it a try through my college counselor at my high school with a good reason for switching to fall. it probably won't work, in which case i am certainly not going back to UVM-- I'll be a visiting student at WUSTL for a semester and will work on Claire McCaskills Senate campaign or work for this guy who does international law that I know.

bnx-- ah! I wish I could see Harvard now! I think I would probably cry knowing that I was actually going! are you choosing between H and somewhere else?

for shaganov: nope. I'm definitely going to H. I know what you mean. The experience was unreal...

Hey bnx86, are you on facebook?

windcloudultra: just sent you a PM!

i tried to switch to fall; i contacted dean fox and some people in admissions (those mentioned in the acceptance letter), and even with my reasons, they were adamant on not being able to switch. So give it a try, but they don't seem willing to budge.

Now i have to decide between H for the spring, or Yale for the fall...

mr_sanguine: that's a hard decision to make. when you began the whole process, did you have a first, second choice, etc...or did you not really have a preference for one over the other?

as similar as yale and harvard are in the broad sense, they're both really different schools when you look at them closely. my brother went to yale, so i know it fairly well. let me know if you have any questions. Also my best friend transferred to yale last year, so i can tell you a little about the process.

does anyone know the total number of CC-ers accepted to harvard this year?
