Applied last year to harv and WL-ed.

hey EE, I emptied one out. Stats:
HS GPA: 3.4 from top 30 day school with an upward trend
College GPA: 3.73 upper level classes from UVM
SATs: 2100
SAT IIs: 780 writing, 740 lit, 700 US Hist
ECs: Co-pres College Dems as a freshman, intern for Senator Leahy, STAND, lots of work experience in the past (cafe, receptionist at clinic in New Mexico where I spoke mainly Spanish, campaign staffer for John Kerry, boutique, hostess at trendy restaurant, intern at the ACLU, research assistant for history prof at WUSTL)
essays: i think my essays got me in. i had really, really compelling and well presented reasons for wanting to go to harvard
recommendations: sent four, three from college, one from high school, from professors who knew me very, very well becuase i'd sought them out since the beginning of school, gone to their office hours, talked to them after class, and honestly, just looked good in comparison to my peers.

bball, be a bigger douche, thanks. i think my essay was pretty good. i had 2 rec's from teachers that kind of knew me. i had pretty solid extracurriculars i think. mostly music stuff. i'm a girl who wants to study math, computers, cryptology and work for the government... whatever i deserve it haha. i'm smart even if i don't try/work that hard. well maybe it gives people hope...?

how am i douche, congrats!!!

i thought it was impossible to get admitted to harvard below a 3.7 GPA...i guess i was wrong

that is why i didnt apply to harvard b/c my first semester gpa was under 3.7.....now my second semester, was above a 3.9.

GPA is not everything my friend. clearly. you should have just applied! never hurts to try. good luck with wherever you did apply.

This board is better than a movie.

okay that came out wrong. oy. i just meant that just because my GPA wasn't that high, it doesn't mean i wasn't qualified to get in.

and what's I movie?

okay it doesn't matter. even though i don't need to justify myself for having been admitted and for being brutally honest, i don't want to say anything else that will be misinterpreted on this site. sarcasm doesn't work well in online communication. i'm sorry if i offended anyone. mazel tov to everyone who did get in; i can't wait to meet you guys next year! good luck to everyone waiting to hear from harvard and other schools, and potentially applying next year. i'm going to go hide in a corner now
