HARVARD TRANSFER Fall2010

Htransfer, from what I heard, the waitlist is basically the “You’re good enough for us but there isn’t enough room” list, so the number of waitlisted would basically equal the number of qualified candidates, which we estimated to be 200. But there should be someone who decides not to go, so at least one waitlistee will be able to get in.

RileyJohn, it’s definitely a good thing that the coach likes you. Transfer admissions to top schools are usually more selective in the type of student. They want to create a balanced student body. Being from SoCal, I can’t image that there are many volleyball players up that far north. If there’s a lack of players, then your chances have definitely increased.

Waitlist is worse than rejection…haha

anyone want to share there essays now that they’ve been submitted? We can exchange emails and whatnot.

waitlists took like 5 years off my life last year! i was sooo stressed out sending update letters/emails and trying to get off them. And it’s hard too: out of 20-25 people (including myself) that tried getting off the H waitlist last year from my school, only one did (because he sent in recs from 2 department heads at H).

and lenora…i don’t know about anyone getting off the transfer waitlist. i figured that the fin. aid and rep at harvard would be enough incentive for all the admits to go…

Melonbread, I was thinking more about super-applicants who got in more than one top school and decided that Harvard wasn’t for them. I’m pretty sure I’ve seen people on here who got accepted into mutiple schools including H but didn’t end up attending H.

true, i only thought that the applicant pool would have a lot more harvard-set members because of the end of the university’s moratorium, which statistically should reflect in the admit pool.

and i hope to be one of those super applicants this year or next :P

How long were your essays on What would you study at Harvard/Book discussion?

for me, I stayed really short.
About 150-200 words each.

How long were yours>??

Best of luck with that, Melonbread. :)

my essays were all to the maximum, but I didn’t include an additional essay. I did post a link to an art supplement sort of thing. Did anyone else do that?

Mine were short too, 150-200. How specific were you guys in what you wanted to study at Harvard? I tried to talk about specific courses.

what major did everyone here apply for?

Sociology for me.

East Asian Studies for me

When will the email decisions be sent? I searched Harvard Transfer Threads of several years ago and it was around May 20-21 for e-mails

that’s super late! Darn.

econ. What were your reasons?

Econ? Well do you like money then?

I also applied for Econ

Yea I think its the most popular major. Any govt. majors?

Government here!!!

Im already in Ethics Politics and Economy (joint) program at my present institution, and I wanna keep studying this.

This thread is becoming abandoned!

Agreed. Gotta keep the flow going strong
