Harvard Transfer

I was wait listed and later rejected by Harvard for admission into the class of 2014. I applied as a Physics major following my Physics teacher's suggestion (I was going to major in Aerospace Engineering). One of my class mates from my high school with about the same academic standing got in as a Civil Engineering major. Turns out Harvard is ranked 1 in Physics, making it more competitive, and not even in the top 30 for Civil Engineering. Now I am planning to apply as an Aerospace Engineer(following my passion).

My high school was divided into two parts. First two years I was in a school in my home country that was affiliated with the University of Cambridge, England. I was in a three year program which I had to finish in two to accommodate my migration to US. For the last two years, I was in a high school in US. I was able to take only 5 APs since I was new to the educational system. Still I got 5s on all of them and was the valedictorian of my graduating class. I also participated in a lot of extra curricular activities throughout my high school years.

I talked to my regional representative and she advised me to maintain a good GPA in college and work on a good essay.

If you are planning on applying to Harvard as a transfer or would like to share some valuable info, please join in.

Harvard does not offer aerospace engineering. Here is a link to the available undergraduate degrees from the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences:

Harvard allows you to make up your own major…I guess Aerospace Engineering won’t be that hard to get.

You cannot make up a “major” (called a concentration at Harvard) in Aerospace Engineering because H does not even have classes in the subject.

Try looking at MIT or other engineering schools. Princeton has Aero but does not take transfers.
