Hi everyone, I’m a student who will be in the Class of 2021. My computer is failing, and I need to buy a new one soon. I’m trying to get one that will last me through all four years of college, but the problem is, computers that will last that long cost a pretty penny and I don’t have any pretty pennies. Do any parents/current students know if the financial aid office provides any assistance for students to buy a new computer for college? If so, how do I take advantage of that?
I don’t know about Mudd but at my DD’s school we put in an appeal to increase the Cost of Attendance (COA) by the cost of a Mac laptop. There is an official process for this and the students are allowed a laptop once every three years. Once the COA is increased then FA if any is adjusted to reflect the new COA. In my DD case it allowed her to use an outside scholarship on the laptop rather than have it applied against her aid.
You can call FA and ask. It can’t hurt, might help.
