Hey, I'm a non-TAG transfer applicant and I'll have 2 missing prerequisites for the Spring before I will be (potentially) enrolling at Davis for Fall 2013. Has anyone here been accepted with 1 or 2 missing prerequisites? I'll be missing 1 Physics class and 1 Math class for my major (Electrical Engineering). So yeah, has anyone been accepted with a few missing prerequisites before? Thanks!

those classes are bigg… but yeah im in the same boat except, ill probably be missing introduction to electrical circuits for mechanical engineering

By “missing” do you mean that you won’t complete them before the end of Spring, or just that it’ll be in progress in the Spring. Because if it’s just in progress, you should be fine assuming that it’s not the first UC transferable math course you’re taking.

I mean that they won’t be completed by the end of Spring 2013. My college doesn’t offer an equivalent for Physics 4D (which is what I’m supposed to take), so would that be exempt from my requirements? Obviously, I’ll make it up once I enroll at UC Davis.

if there’s no equivalent, then you are exempt from it, yes.

I was accepted to UCD for the 2011-2012 year with a ton of pre-reqs missing (the 2nd half of Calc, part of the Bio series, and the entire O-chem series). I’m an animal science major, and they’re more lenient about pre-reqs.

If your CCC doesn’t offer it, they shouldn’t hold it against you. But what about the other class, is that offered?

Yes, the other class (Linear Algebra, the highest Calculus course required), is available at my college. I just won’t have enough quarters left to take it. Also, would it be advisable for me to state that my college doesn’t offer an equivalent to Physics 4D in the “Additional Comments” section of the UC application, this fall? I’m an electrical engineering major, btw. Thanks for all your inputs! :D

Is there a way that you could take it concurrently with other math classes? It would really help you if you could. One missing pre-req shouldn’t be too bad for Davis though, but it’s nice to have all your bases covered.

I’m a biochemistry major non tag and I’m missing the whole physics series-- but I think they are recommended classes though

I don’t think I can take those classes concurrently because each Math class is a prerequisite for the next level class.

@JNTHNL: Are you a current UC Davis student or an applicant? Missing the whole physics series sounds… disastrous.

Would it be possible to get into Davis as a Physics or Applied Math major (both of these majors are unimpacted and they have almost the same prereqs as Electrical Engineering), and then transfer to engineering during Winter quarter? I’ll be able to finish those missing prereqs during the Fall quarter that I enroll. I’m a one-year transfer student so I’ll technically still be a sophomore in terms of college years, but a junior in terms of credits. If I can’t completely transfer, can I atleast declare Engineering as my second major? Thanks!

It will probably be difficult to transfer into the School of Engineering from another major. I thought that Linear Algebra and some of the other high level math classes could be taken after Calculus II. Double check to make sure if you can take any of them concurrently. Either way, I would still apply to Engineering if it’s only one class that you’re gonna be missing, but check assist.org and Davis to make sure that it isn’t a class that is absolutely required for your application to be reviewed.

@oompaloompa, I was admitted for this fall.

I was admitted last year as a physics major. I was missing the entire physics series, math 21d (vector calc), linear and diff eq, chem 2a… Pretty much all of the preptory classes.

I took the first few classes in fall 2012, and in winter 2012, I transfered electrical engineering. It was a really painless process. I have finished all physics classes other than 9d, and all math other than diff eq. I will take those this summer, and then start EE course work this fall.

My community college (i was an out of state transfer) did not offer any of those classes. But I guess it didn’t matter. Transferring into EE took about 5 min with the engineering advisor, then 30 min or riding back and forth across campus to get the required signatures.

Hope that helps.

I’ll be applying in the fall and will have all of my pre-reqs done except for the O-Chem series…does anyone know how lenient Davis is going to be with that? I’ve heard of several people getting in without o-chem I sure hope I have a chance…not trying to stay at my JC for another year lol

My suitemate and I got into UCD without the O-chem series completed. They’re fine with that, and don’t expect you to be done with it by the time you transfer in.

yes, but i do not think my major was impacted at Davis. the prereqs for davis were completely different than Cal and UCLA, anyway, david did not seem to care that much for the history department.

if you really want to get in then i suggest taking the prereqs over the summer. no need to take any risks. davis was not my first choice so i let it slide, but it is a fantastic school. good luck

@serinety are you still a physics major now? or EE?
