Has anyone been denied from M&T here that put their second choice as non-binding?

So I’m still confused since the admissions representatives gave me conflicting offers.

So I applied M&T but put SEAS as non-binding RD and was deferred but the application portal doesn’t say if i was deferred from M&T or SEAS. I understand that SEAS did not review my application since it was marked RD but what if M&T denied me would they just auto defer me to SEAS? Does everyone who applies dual degree but single degree binding get deferred or is possible to get denied M&T and your application portal says you are being considered for SEAS only?

I’m not sure anybody on CC knows that answer. Why don’t you email your admissions counselor?I think a lot of people would like to know the answer to that.

The admissions office is closed until next monday :confused: and they weren’t really helpful, people I spoke to seemed more confused than I was but I will try shooting her an email, thanks!

Usually that means you were rejected from M&T but still considered for SEAS.

You are deferred from M&T for sure, your second choice school has not reviewed your file yet.

@f2000sa But what if M&T denied me and SEAS has yet to look over my application like @pmsleepy said? or is it possible to get denied to m&t but still considered for SEAS

If you were denied by M&T, you will not see the deferral status. You chose RD for your second choice, Your second choice program have not considered you yet.

@f2000sa What would I see if M&T denied me? Would it say denied but considered for second choice?

If you see deferral, It is by m&T. You are RDing to your 2nd choice. The decision for it has not come out yet.

How do you all know that? Maybe M & T denied him but thought he would be possible for SEAS. However his SEAS is RD so they are deferring the decision to RD as he requested.

You can check your PENN portal, On the right, it will list programs you are applying.

It used to be like this

  1. M&T
  2. 2nd choice: SEAS

If you were rejected by M&T, the M&T would be disappeared.
