Hi! I recently got deferred from Penn ED, applying M&T and also checking the box to be considered ED for SEAS. I had a quick question about what exactly happened to get me deferred from Penn. Was I both deferred M&T and deferred SEAS? Or was I rejected M&T and deferred SEAS? Or even possibly deferred M&T and accepted SEAS?

From the M&T site (http://www.upenn.edu/fisher/apply):

Please note that because of the selective nature of the M&T Program, students who are applying may also elect a single degree choice on their application as a secondary choice to the Program. This single degree choice will only be considered after all opportunities for placement in the M&T Program have been exhausted.

From that last sentence above, does Penn mean that they would have only considered me for SEAS if I was outright rejected from M&T? Because if I was deferred "all opportunities for placement in the M&T Program" were NOT exhausted, and thus I wouldn't even have gotten consideration from SEAS? Or is this not the case?

I feel like one of these three things happened:

Deferred M&T ---> Accepted SEAS
Deferred M&T ---> Deferred SEAS
Rejected M&T ---> Deferred SEAS

I think the thing that worries me most is that I could have been accepted SEAS but deferred to RD because I was deferred M&T and they still want to consider me for M&T... or is that not possible?

Sorry if this is really confusing.
