You have not been selected for admission to Cal Poly.

Awww.

You have not been selected for admission to Cal Poly.

Awww.

How can a person with a 4.3 and and 1860 SAT not get into Cal Poly...

They don't look at our Writing score (710)

I was rejected. I checked my Cal Poly portal.

yes, i am glad i got notified too!

OREGON HERE I COME!

:]

ya, two of my friends got rejected today on the portal. looks like today is rejection day :(

I got rejected...

yaa one of my friends realized that he calculated his gpa wrong though.. which is probably what screwed him over. he put 3.4-3.6 which was his uw from 9th-11th, but poly looks at just 10th-11th.. which was like 3.8 for him. and he had applied ed for poly. that's the only school he wants to go to so he's goin to try and appeal. does anyone know anythin about the appeal process? and what are the chances of it working?

I didn't get in either =/

@soccer: When you applied to Cal Poly, you posted your grades for 9-12 I presume, with the letter grades also. I'm sure they check the letter grade, not only the GPA that you put in.

Last year there were two kids from my hs that were rejected by Cal Poly, and one to UCDavis, that by their stats should have got in. The GC figured out that they incorrectly entered their grades on the application, and said she could look into it for them, but all three had other acceptances so no one did check. I guess I'm suggesting a talk with a GC and a call to CP admissions.

yaa because i bet they did look at the other classes, but thought he was stupid for messing up the gpa so didn't accept him because of it. he's really not that dumb.. he just didn't realize that's what they wanted.. he should have had a 3.8ish gpa with 30 ACT and his major was kinesiology so i bet he would have got in if he had done it correctly.. especially since he had applied ed!

thanx archkid! i'll have him talk to our GC and call poly! by the way, have you decided on a school yet?! i'm kinda jealous you might be an arch major at poly! haha

No, no decision on which school yet. I promised myself I'd wait until all the schools sent me accept/reject letters which will take another week or so. It's funny as I only applied to BArch schools and some of them are very selective, plus the Arch programs can be small (like PS only takes 70 first years), and hard to get into. So on the advice of my GC I applied to eight schools (actually she said I should find 10 to 12!) to make sure I got into at least one or two. It's incredible getting accepted to several, and I feel lucky, but the down side is it makes the decision where to go hard. I have two friends who are very happy now, each going to the only school they applied to...
CP Arch is great, it's sooo highly regarded, I'd be an idiot not to enroll, yet I would like to go out of CA, plus my mom is terribly worried about the CA budget cuts and what it will mean over the next five years. The two profs there I spoke to last week had concerns as well. One talked of broken equipment that doesn't get replaced. The other said educating more kids with less money is not a good thing.

I see a few sleepless nights headed my way the end of next week.

ya the budget cuts are gonna be harsh. my GC was talking about no longer having public education? i believe that's a little much.. but she was talking about possibly having to pay tuition had high schools from now on.

i'm kinda worried about what the budget cuts are gonna do and how they'll affect my education. it's kinda scary. i've got 4 more years in cali though. I'll probably end up going somewhere along the east coast for grad school for my MArch that way i won't have to worry about the budget anymore. i really like cali though and would prefer to stay here.. although the east coast does have better grad programs. hopefully they fix something about the budget cuts here.

Yeah, my bf got rejected today..

soccerchick
hey if you do well at CP the MArch programs back east will be happy to see you, hopefully happy enough to pay you to attend!

yeah, i was rejected today, kinda bummed, but whatever

I just got rejected also.... sigh, this was my first choice, I guess im going to UCSC
