Has anyone been waitlisted to REED?

They have taken 10 so far or are they only taking 10? Please explain. Thanks.

Well, as of May 1, they had room for 10 students. So they will take people off their waitlist until 10 have said yes. Then, if someone leaves Reed for another waitlist they will take more.

i was waitlisted last year; i took a gap year, traveled, got some "life experience," reapplied, and was accepted. i highly recommend it.

calewithac. what did you do for that gap year to improve your chance? would you mind to share some of your "life experience" with us?

i worked the summer saving money to travel... then i traveled to europe and attempted to get a job... and failed, and instead spent my money traveling. then i returned home after 3 months, worked a lot to repay my europe debts, and am currently back in france because i found a job when i was back working in the states.

i hear that if you go to south/central america or africa it's much cheaper, so your money can last long there. i just always had my heart set on europe, which is crazy because it's so expensive currently.

i get the idea they liked the idea that i took a chance on something somewhat crazy and out of the box, and perhaps even that i failed. i think as long as you don't spend your gap year sitting on your parents couch watching south park, you have a pretty good chance of impressing them. i also get they idea that they like perseverance. so, me both trying to get a job in europe and reapplying to reed showed them that, i think... maybe. idk.

maybe i'm completely way off base. but, i don't think taking a year to do something for yourself will ever hurt you. i highly recommend them.

thank you for sharing your experience. i think i will travel the states first cause there are alot of things i have not seen before. idk. i am still waitlisted...

i just got off the waitlists of Northwestern and possibly U Chicago (they're being pretty sketchy w/ the WL this year and w/ their communications w/ me). i hope one of you gets my spot at Reed!

I also declined my admissions because I couldn't afford to go at all. So hopefully someone else can go now! :)

I am an international . Do i stand any chance.
Reed is my first choice college
Sigh !
Hope is the only thing

Timus Ragud, where are you from? I am also an international. Do you apply as a freshman or transfer?

I'm from Nepal .
I applied as freshman.
If someone frm my country declines reed then do i have a chance
Hope is all I have

I got a call on Friday from Reed asking if I was still interested, and I said that I was. I'm still waiting to hear from 4 other schools, though, so there's a good chance that my spot will be up for grabs again in the near future... best of luck to everyone here, and I hope that things work out for people still waiting.

I think fooby u are accepted as they have called u. I havent heard from reed since i was waitlisted. They said they would give their decisions on the last week of May but still havent.

Fooby what are the other schools where u r waitlisted???

I'm waitlisted at Wash. U. in St. Louis, Pomona, Wesleyan, and Swarthmore right now. I'm pretty sure I'd go to WashU or Wesleyan over Reed if I got into one of those. I'm not sure about Pomona and Swarthmore.

Swarthmore and Wes sent me a thing that they're both gonna be going into June to finalize their decisions. Other than that I don't know anything about my other schools.

I just got accepted into WashU, so there is a good chance that my spot at Reed will be available in the next week or so. Good luck to everyone here!

congrats fooby.

Today is already June 3rd... And those transfer students that get put on the WL would hear from Reed anytime... Did any of you guys hear back from Reed? Is the WL active this year for transfer?

Good luck everyone....

As Draj said
Doomed !!
Sigh !

anyone heard from Reed?
Gosh, the anticipation is killing, especially when there is nothing we can do but waiting.

I emailed the admission office to ask abt the waitlist, and they told me they haven't started working with the WL yet. If they do, it would be within the next 2 weeks.

sigh
