I got admitted into UC's that I never dreamed I would have. The problem is that I'm having second thoughts about my major and it seems that changing majors is not an option. One of the options I'm considering is continuing at a CCC and applying again next year for a different major.

Has anyone ever done this and been admitted the second time? I'm wondering how not going after being admitted would affect my chances the next time I apply.

@CooCooCaChoo25, did you apply to multiple UC’s both years that you applied? I’d be curious what each school’s admission decision was each time, and whether you felt you strengthened or weakened your application during that year.

I don’t know if this is helpful information but I actually went to a UC after being admitted by a few as a high school senior, then left, went to a CCC, and have been admitted again by the same UCs (and some others, I just selected those as backups) so I think it’s fine. I don’t see why UCs would hold a grudge against you for applying and not attending, and then reapplying, because they’re just gaining money from your application fee! :)

@toughTulip, your situation was a bit different, but it definitely still helps to hear about it. You’re probably right that they won’t “hold a grudge”, but I didn’t know if it would make me look bad to not go after being admitted. I’m also concerned because I figure UC’s don’t want you to linger in community college for too long. I got admitted this time after spending 7 years in community college because I was working full time. I wonder if adding another year to that would hurt me. :/

@AngelJ I was admitted to UCB twice. Completely different majors, drastically different GPA. I really do not think they will hold a grudge against you for not going.

Thanks @SoCalLife310, that’s good to know! It sounds like my only fears should be that the other major is harder to get into, or that next years pool of applicants is more competitive.
