As far as being admitted into engineering or LAS:

In-state

Rank - within Top 16-18%
GPA: 3.3 UW, 3.4 W
ACT: 26

Basically, I'd like some sort of results for average in-state students.

A friend of my mine got into LAS this year (C.O. 2012) with somewhat similar stats, but ended up going to loyola instead.

I'm not sure what his exact stats were, but he had 25 ACT, somewhere around 3.4-3.6 WGPA, rank somewhere 15%-20%, combined with less than stellar extra-curricular record and a semi-rigorous courseload. (Only 2 AP's altogether, but most of the rest of his classes were honors)

Thanks :)

(10 char)

You won't get into Eng, probably. Less than 25% of admitted Eng students for Fall '08 had ACT scores of less than 30.

There's a slight chance that you'll get in LAS. For students entering Fall '08, 25% of those admitted to LAS had ACT scores of less than 27. On the other hand, the average ACT for students admitted to LAS was 29.5.

Your best bet is to raise your ACT & GPA to at least 28, 3.6uw.

What if my unweighted rank was in the Top 10% while my weighted rank was in the Top 17%? 3/4 of my classes were non-honors/accel classes and I made a lot of As with no Cs, and my UW rank is probably high because many of our honors/accel students have Bs in those classes while I have many As in my regular classes. Ignoring my freshman year, I have always made at least a 3.6 gpa.

as far as i know, B's in honors/ap classes are valued higher than A's in non-honors classes. UIUC wants to know that you are willing to challenge yourself.

Do bear in mind that this is second/third hand information.

I saw plenty of minorities with similar stats being accepted.
