Has anyone gone through this before with IU-Bloomington. I applied on November 10,2010, which meant that I missed the deadline for the Automatic Academic Scholarship. I want to cancel my enrollment and then reapply so that I can get that scholarship. I have called the Office of Scholarships, Admissions, and Student Financial Assistance, but they each tell me different answers. Scholarships and Admissions tells me that I WOULD be eligible but the Student Financial Assistance Office tells me I would NOT be eligible. I have called each office like 6 times this week and I want a clear answer.

So has anyone ever done this and if you have, did you get the automatic academic scholarship? Is there someone I could call that would give me a definite 100% FINAL answer? Please help.

As I understand it, the automatic scholarships are awarded by Admissions. Since Admissions indicated that you could get the scholarship if you reapply, why don’t you write or email them and get a written response from them? Then if you have a problem when you reapply, you have documentation from them saying that you qualify for the scholarship. I doubt that there are many students who wait a year to enroll just to get $9000 (max). Are you applying to other schools with good merit aid?

ok, I just talked to the office of admissions, and they said that they were certain I would receive the scholarship, and they were going to call the Office of Student Financial Assistance to check what is up. However, she said she will give me a call Monday to tell me. The thing is that school starts August 29th and I have not done housing or orientation yet. What should I do? Do you think waiting until Monday is a good idea?

I just signed up for orientation and plan to go either Sunday or Monday because those are the last dates. I am doing this in case all the offices don’t come to a unanimous decision by Monday. If I get a written word from one office, but I don’t get the scholarship, when the time comes, can I use the one office’s written word in proving my eligibility to get the scholarship. I am confused. Help!!!
