Has anyone gotten in w/liberal arts teacher rec?

Hey, I noticed that on RPI's website, the admissions office requires 1 recommendation.
But they also add that they prefer math/science teacher. In my case, I am 100 percent sure my history teacher would give me a better recommendation, so I want to use her.

Do you think they will penalize me for choosing a liberal arts teacher for the recommendation?

If you’re planning on applying anywhere else (and thus will get 2+ recommendation written), you might as well send all of them to RPI.

Otherwise, unless there’s a huge disparity, I think it would be better to send the math/science rec in, since RPI isn’t huge on the liberal arts, and would probably prefer to hear about your scientific aptitude.

Well, I am only getting 2 teacher recs and both of them are liberal arts as I have had them for more than one year and they know me pretty well.

I one of my friend’s recs was from our APUSH teacher, although the other was from a Math teacher, and he got in ED. I’m not actually sure which he sent if he only needed one…

I got in with an art teacher and a math teacher rec. Like someone else said, use the history teacher but pick a math/science too just so you can say you used one. Depend on the history for the better rec, but the math/sci teacher will still write a nice one im sure
