Has anyone gotten into Harvard with a SAT score in the 2100's range?

Hey,
so i have great grades, taken pretty much every chance to excel in class work, 3 years advanced in science and 2 years advanced in math. I have great extracurriculars, but I have terrible test scores...

2190 on my Sat's
720 , 600, 600 on my SAT II's.

is it even POSSIBLE for me to get in or should i forget about applying altogether?

thanks

You never truly know until you apply although I must say your chances are particularly low due to your scores. If you could bring your SAT II scores up then your SAT I scores might be overlooked.

All the people in my school who have gotten in this year all had SAT scores in the 2100s. They were all asian too with not many particularly significant accomplishments.

Just apply- the whole college process is pretty random anyways.

accepted with a 2110. scores aren't THAT important, although i would suggest bumping up the 600s on your SAT2 =)

I think it is possible for you to be accepted but you should get higher scores on your SAT IIs.

an acquaintance of mine got accepted into all of her college choices (MIT, Yale, Brown, etc.) with 2000s in her SATs.

are the acceptees URM?

what does that stand for?

People have. It's possible. Apply!

(And debate_addict, it stands for under-represented minority).

thanks...i suck at abbreviations

and to answer the question above me, no...the applicant was international, white caucasian...so nothing special with respect to minorities and so on...no "perks"

Are international students considered under-represented minority?

if they are either hispanic, african, or middle eastern

idk much about asian becuase I know for domestic applicants, asians are overrepresented.

Chances are slim unless you're black/hispanic/native american or have some sort of outstanding hook.

No! .

What does "hook" mean? Can anyone give me an example?

Sorry to ask this type of stupid questions.

"Hooks" can refer to several things, some I can think of are URM, 1st generation to go to college, and coming from economic hardship. Also bing a legacy or gifted athlete also qualify. The more of these you have, the chances of getting an extra look at your app.

People have in the past...but you probably won't so don't keep your hopes up.

Considering a 2190 is REALLY close to 2200, and 2200 is considered the target SAT score to get, I wouldn't worry too much about it.

are indians mis-represented at harvard?

Well a Harvard Rep. JUST, serioulsy like 5 mins ago, called me. I have 2020 on my SAT I (first time), 650-SAT II Math I, 680 US History, other than telling me that I have to take one more subject test, he said that my scores were pretty good. I told him that i was retaking it in nov. (SAT I) and he said that it wasn't neccessary, b/c my scores were enough for them to contact me. But he also said it wouldn't hurt if i wanted to retake the test, but it was not NEEDED. I do think that you need to bring up your SAT subject scores. but ure SAT I is pretty good.
